Computer and Mouse Basics
Designed for beginners, this class focuses on what a computer is and what it does. We review the hardware parts of a computer and introduce software. You'll also learn how to move the mouse.

Learn how to use Microsoft Word! This is an introduction to the menu and toolbars in Word--no true typing skills are needed to participate.

- Microsoft Word Intermediate
Learn how to use clip art and the drawing toolbar to create a flyer or advertising bulletin or a certificate!
Requirements: Basic mouse skills and knowledge of toolbars

- Microsoft Excel Beginner
Learn how to use Microsoft Excel! After an introduction to some basic functions, you'll use a spreadsheet format to create a very simple budget.

- Microsoft Publisher Beginner
Microsoft Publisher can be used to create customized newsletters, brochures and catalogs. You'll create a simple publication while learning some fundamental functions of Publisher.

Create a special occasion card (birthday or holiday cards) or business cards!
Requirements: Basic mouse skills and knowledge of menu and tool bars

- Internet Beginner
Understand the basics of exploring the Internet. You'll learn about Internet Explorer, how it works, and how to search for specific Web pages.

- Internet Intermediate
Building off the beginner class, you'll learn how to develop a search strategy to answer a question. You'll learn how to determine if your answers are valid. As time permits, students will learn how to transfer information from Internet Explorer and save it in Microsoft Word and examine advanced options within Google®.
Requirements: Mouse skills, familiarity with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word toolbars, and the ability to run more than one program at a time using the task bar

If you've never used e-mail or if you don't have your own account we'll help you set up a free Web-based account that can be accessed from any computer with Internet access.

- E-mail Intermediate
How do I send or view an attachment? How do I add to my contacts list? You'll learn how to use these features and calendars that are offered by most Web based e-mail providers.

- Mail Merge
We'll use the Mail Merge function in Microsoft Word to create personalized letters and envelopes in Excel.

- B&ECPL Catalog/My Account features
You want to know if your library has the latest bestseller. The audio-book that you want is owned by another library. Save gas and time by learning how to look up library materials online! Order items from one library and have them delivered to another. Bring your library card with PIN (Personal Identification Number) to access full "My Account" features and to request library materials.
Requirements: Ability to use Microsoft Internet Explorer. A PIN for access to the "My Account" feature (obtain your number from your nearest B&ECP Library) and mouse skills. Students should be familiar with the keyboard for minimal typing.
