American Dream Essay Contest
Throughout The Great Gatsby, title character Jay Gatbsy struggles to achieve the American Dream and find happiness with little success. Write an essay of 250-500 words describing your American Dream and how you think it would change your life if you achieved it. Open to students ages 13-19.
Return your essay to your favorite library or mail it to the Office of Development & Communications, Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo, NY 14203 by Friday, November 6, 2009. Winners will be announced on Friday, November 13, at the Gusto at the Gallery (winner need not be present to win). Find the answers to some fun questions by reading about Dave's adventures while living at the Hebrew Home for Boys and on the streets of 1920s Harlem.

Download the trivia form here and drop it off at any Buffalo & Erie County Public Library location by November 10, 2009. All correct entries will be entered into a grand prize drawing which inlcudes a pint a week for a year of Perry's Ice Cream, a signed picture of Buffalo Sabres' defenseman Chris Butler and a Buffalo Bisons' prize pack. Open to kids ages 8-12.
