Canine Good Citizen Reading Dog on Staff
Saturdays 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (except during special events)
Stop in and sign up for a session to read to Boston's Canine Good Citizen Therapy Dog, Grimaldi. Practicing reading aloud to such a good listener helps children to gain confidence in their abilities.

Friday, October 20th, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Annual Friends of the Boston Free Library Gala Fundraiser

Fun for the whole family! Be the first to preview our book sale and enjoy good food, friends and music. Music by Wise Alex. Many beautiful gift baskets will be raffled at the event. We will be officially unveiling the new artwork in the children's room with a reception for our artist, Diane Sypniewski. Kids- Dress up as your favorite book character to be entered to win prizes!

Tickets available at the door $8.00 per person $15.00 per family.

Saturday, October 21st - Friday, October 27th - Friends of the Boston Free Library Book Sale

Books are presorted and priced to sell. Most items are $1.00 and under. Children's books are only .25 cents. Many DVDs, music, and almost new items are available. Something for everyone! Boxes and bags provided by the library or you may bring your own. $5.00 Box Sale Thursday October 26th. $2.00 Box Sale Friday October 27th.

What do we know about Mars and what can we learn from the next mission in 2020?  Learn all about this fascinating planet from videos and discussions with Dr. Marcus!

Tuesday, November 7th, 6:00 PM - What Did the Scarecrow See?

Stories, songs, activities and crafts associated with all things fall. Learn all about leaves, squirrels, corn and especially turkeys!

Tuesday, November 14th, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM - Mental Health Peer Connection 

Stop in to learn about the outreach services provided by Peer Connection of Buffalo including addiction support, peer counseling in obtaining SSI, SSDI, Social Services and other benefits, Job Club, Wellness Coaching, and other services available in our community.

Thursday, November 16th, 6:00 PM - Science Magic with the Buffalo Museum of Science

Explore the "magic" of physics, biology, ecology and chemistry through topics such as light theory, pressure, polymers, chemical reactions, and biological phenomenon.

For ages 8 and up

Saturday, November 18th, 11:00 AM - Take Flight

 Build a plane and a rocket to learn about the four forces of flight: lift, weight, thrust, and drag. This program will have activities and experiments to help understand how each force can affect how an object moves through the air.

For ages 8-12.

Saturday, November 25th, 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM - Graham Cracker Houses

Building graham cracker houses is one of our favorite traditions. The results are always delicious, but children are challenged to make a house that is beautiful as well as structurally sound. All materials are provided.

All ages (Family activity - younger children need help.) This program will fill up. Please specify which session you are signing up for.

Saturday, December 2nd, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Holiday Cards and Christmas Tree Books

Join us for a holiday craft morning! We will have supplies to create your own holiday cards and your very own Christmas tree made out of a book!
