Ongoing Spring Events

  • Book Babies - For newborns - 2 1/2 years old - Tuesdays @ 11:30am, from March 7 to April 11.  Join us for stories, songs and nursery rhymes!  Registration required.
  • Toddler Time - For ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 years old - Tuesdays @ 10:30am, from March 7 to April 11.  We'll be telling stories, singing songs, and doing crafts!  Registration required.
  • Preschool Story Time - For ages 3 1/2 - 5 1/2 - Fridays @ 10:30am, from March 10 to April 7.  Help your child prepare for school and have some fun too!  Registration required.


  • Teen Book Club - Monday, April 3 @ 6:30pm.  For ages 13-17.  Our choice for April is the graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman.  Join us for lively discussion!  Bring a friend!  Snacks provided.  Please pre-register.
  • The Last Straw! - Wednesday, April 5 @ 6:30pm.  For children in grades K-3.  Think straws are just for sipping?  You'll find out otherwise at "The Last Straw", a story time for kids!  Join us for stories, games, and crafts...all featuring the humble straw.  Registration is required.
  • Tales From the Story Hat - Monday, April 10 @ 6:30pm.  For all ages.  Come celebrate National Library Week 2017 with Annemarie Jason.  Join us for a participatory family program featuring stories, rhymes and songs from around the world!  It's fun for the whole family!  No registration necessary.
  • Elma Lego Club - Saturday, April 15 @ 1:00pm.  For ages 6-12.  This month's theme is "Simple Machines."  Build a machine that has a purpose or a job to do!  Registration required.
  • Adult Coloring - Monday, April, 17 @ 6:30pm.  For ages 18 and up.   Have fun with this relaxing and creative activity.  All coloring materials will be provided.  Registration required.
  • The Undercover World of Spies - Wednesday, April 19 @ 6:30pm.  Ages 8-12.  Ever wonder what it takes to be a secret agent?  Come join us to learn the secrets of the undercover world of spies.  Read about celebrity spies, learn how to write secret messages, and make some of your own spy gear to take home!  Registration required.
  • Iroquois Central School District Art Show - Monday, April 24th through Friday, April 28th during open library hours.
  • Family Movie Night - Friday, April 28 @ 7:00pm.  For all ages (rated PG).  Click here to see movie title.  No registration necessary.


  • Peewee Puppets presents "Do One Thing" - Monday, May 1 @ 6:30pm.  For ages 4-12.  Join Professor Higginstein and a colorful cast of characters as they explore ways to create and sustain a healthy planet Earth.  Through a fun and interactive musical presentation, learn how we can develop responsible habits about conserving energy.  Following the show will be a free puppet-making workshop!  Space is limited for the workshop, so please register.
  • Battle of the Books Informational Meeting - Monday, May 15 @ 6:30pm.  For those children entering grades 6-9.  Are you a good reader?  Love to compete in trivia tournaments and work as a team?  Then we need you!  The Elma Library is forming a team for this summer.  Any interested persons should come to our informational meeting or talk to Mrs. Kate.  Click here for more information.
  • One Community One Book: The Boys in the Boat - Wednesday, May 17 @ 7:00pm.  Join us for a community-wide read with our featured title The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown.  Please pre-register.
  • Elma Lego Club - Saturday, May 20 @ 1:00pm.  For ages 6-12.  This month create what you like!  Bring a friend!  Registration required.
  • Adult Coloring - Monday, May 22 @ 6:30pm.  For ages 18 and up.   Have fun with this relaxing and creative activity.  All coloring materials will be provided.  Registration required.

Book Sale Donations

Gently used books in good condition will be accepted during library hours.  Please no text books, Reader's Digests, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes.  Donate used books at the Elma Library, at the corner of Bowen & Rice Road or call 652-2719.



The Elma Board of Trustees meets at 7:00pm the second Tuesday of every month, except July and December.
