23 Public Access Computers

All computers are networked, including 2 laptops with wireless printing and a workstation with a flatbed scanner available. All computers have Microsoft Office 2007 Applications, Internet Access, Misc. "What can I do at a Public Access Computer?"

Printing 10 cents B&W per page, 25 cents color per page.












Meeting Room

Capacity 50. Wireless internet access point in room for excellent WiFi. Meeting room is also equipped for multimedia presentations. Used for library programs, available for use by nonprofit organizations (registration required call 662-9851).

The Orchard Park Library has spaces available for a variety of uses from quiet study areas to tables for homework help or personal computing.

What's Special About the Orchard Park Library

Located adjacent to the historic 1920s Railroad Depot Station, the Orchard Park Library serves southern Erie County as a center for reference and homework help with its large non-fiction collection. It has an extensive fiction, DVD and audio book collection. The children's collection is highlighted by innovative special displays and an interactive play area.  A chessboard is available for public use.

Special programs for all ages, story times for children and computer classes are offered continually.

And finally and most importantly, it is our knowledgeable and responsive staff that makes our library so effective, friendly and welcoming.

Our Friends of the Orchard Park Public Library is the largest and most active Friends group in Erie County. They sponsor the 4th Tuesday speaker series, many of our special children's programs, quarterly donated book sales, an annual rare book sale and ongoing Book Nook, Cart and online book sales (www.ebay.com/usr/oplibrary).  Friends have purchased many shelves, display
units and other equipment that make this library so special. New members

Battle of the Books sign up has begun!

Official Battle of the Books training meetings will begin on

Adult Events

Adult Coloring Club will meet on the 4th Monday of each month at 6pm - 8:30pm in the meeting room.  This club is for adults ages 17 and over to stop in, unplug, and engage in some meditative coloring to increase mental focus and reduce stress. Coloring supplies will be provided, but you may certainly bring your own. Different coloring pages will be provided each meeting.  No registration is required.

Registration is required for all programs unless otherwise noted. Registrations begin 3 weeks before the day of the program.

Early Bird Toddler Time begins at 10:00 am on Mondays from July 10th - August 14th- A fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children age 2. This program features age appropriate stories, activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration begins Monday, June 26th. Registration is required. 
Little Later Toddler Time Class begins at 11:00 am on Mondays from July 10th - August 14th. A fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children age 2. This program features age appropriate stories, activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration begins Monday, June 26th.

Preschool Story Time begins at 10:30am on Tuesdays from July 11th - August 15th. Help your child get excited about reading and develop preschool readiness skills at the library! This program features several age appropriate books, and hands-on activities that reinforce the themes of the stories! Get ready for school and have fun at the library! Registration begins Monday, June 26th. Registration is required. 
Independent Preschool Story Time Sessions are at 10:30am on Thursdays from July 13th - August 17th. Help your child get excited about reading and develop preschool readiness skills at the library with several age appropriate books, hands-on activities that reinforce the themes of the stories! Children at this story time are encouraged to attend independently while their caregiver enjoys the library! Registration begins Monday June 26th. 
Lapsit Story Hours Lapsit begins at 10:30am on Fridays from May 18th through June 22nd.class will introduce toddlers ages 6—18 months to reading and group activities from the comfort and security of your lap! Caregivers are encouraged to help their child participate in the age appropriate stories, activities and music. Registration begins Monday, June 26th. Registration is required.
Mobile Maker Cart Mondays July 10th through August 14th from 3pm - 5pm. Come check out our mobile maker space. Includes Sphero Robots, iPads, Stop Animation Camera, Button Maker, Crafts & More! This is a drop-in program. No registration is required.
LEGO Club! Saturday July 22nd & Saturday August 12th at 1pm. Join in to complete LEGO challenges and explore a different LEGO theme every month! For children 5 and up.  Sign up begins on the first day of each month. 
Read to Maisy the Therapy Dog Tuesday July 11th and 18th 6pm-7:40pm. Reading to a therapy dog can be encouraging for reluctant readers! Sign up for one, 20-minute session on either date and come practive reading skills in a calm comfortable environment with Maisy. Registration is required. 

Beginner Chess Workshop Saturday July 29th 1:30pm-4pm Learn the basics of chess with this introductory workshop taught by official USCF Chess Coach Michael McDufie! Chess boards and pieces will be provided. Please bring a pad of paper and a pen/pencil. Open to children and adults ages 10 & up

Earning by Learning Summer Reading Program is back! This program is for children entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall (currently in 1st grade through 5th grade). This free program allows children to earn $1 per book read for three weeks! Each child may read 7 books maximum per week. Books must be selected from the Jaycees reading list, or pre-approved by the Orchard Park Jaycees via email OPJaycees@aol.com. Child must attend the program to receive credit for books read. Child must attend two of three sessions to be eligible. Parent must volunteer TWO nights as an interviewer to be eligible to participate in the program. Children cannot be dropped off without supervision. 
Registration date is Thursday June 29th from 6:30-8pm,
if you cannot attend registration night, you may register in the library beginning on June 29th - July 13th

Build a Better World Wednesdays

Explore & More Children's Museum presents Tiny Tinkerers Explore & More Children's Museum of East Aurora brings their custom Tiny Tinkering program to the library! Kids ages 4 - 10 will visit different construction themed stations including using Geo-Mags, a "Rig-A-Ma-Jig", Nuts & Bolts and a life-sized Imagination Playground.

Earth Spirit presents Eagle Nest Adventure Team up with Earth Spirit Education and the Orchard park Library to build a life-sized Eagle next on Orchard Park Library's lawn. Learn about these amazing birds of prey while constructing a 5-ft diameter nest. All materials are provided, just come dressed for the weather! Registration is required. Best for ages 10 & under

Wednesday July 26th at 3pm

Aquarium of Niagara presents the Mobile Touch Tank Visit with real sea creatures including crabs, sea urchins and more! Registration for this unique, hands-on experience begins on July 5th. 

Wednesday August 2nd at 3pm

The Bubbleman presents Build a Better Bubble Fun for famliies with children of all ages! Doug "The Bubble Man" Rougeaux will share his custom magic bubbles, with the added excitement of extra audience participation in this year's Amazing Bubble Bash! Registration is required and will begin on July 12th.

The Primate Sanctuary is back at the Orchard park Library. Carmen Presti introduces us to live primates individually throughout the presentation to interact with the audience while speaking about their unique characteristics. Get up close and personal with these rare and amazing creatures. Registration begins on July 19th. 

Wednesday, August 16th at 3pm

Seismic Shakeup! Earthquakes are common throughout the world, resulting in the destruciton of buildings, orads, bridges and other structres. Design and build your own earthquake proof structure and then put it to the test on our earthquake simulator! Fro children ages 8-12. Registration is required and will begin on July 26th. 

Book a Technology Trainer Tuesday July 25th from 5pm -8pm and on August 18th from 5pm-8pm. Need computer assistance? We can help! These free 45 minute sessions for adults are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Call to book an appointment. Registration begins Wednesday July 5th for the July session and begins Tuesday July 25th for the August session.

Legislator John Mills' Annual Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser Friday August 4th from 11am - 2pm. Join us for Legislator John Mills’ annual hot dog roast at the Orchard Park Library!

Come for a hot dog and stay for the silly fun of “Do One Thing” a show by PeeWee Puppets at 1pm! After the puppet show, register to stay and make your own puppet friends at the PeeWee Puppets workshop at 2pm! Registration for puppet show is not required. Registration for the PeeWee Puppet making workshop is required.
