2017 Books for Kids
The annual Books for Kids program collects new children’s books from the generous Western New York community and distributes them to needy children who would not otherwise have a chance to own a book of their own. Local organizations that receive books range from those that service children to those community service organizations that have lending libraries. See details below about applying to receive a book donation from Books for Kids.
The 2017 drive runs from April 1 - April 30.
Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries are proud supporters of Books for Kids, which has distributed over 2.5 million books to needy organizations, schools and children since it was established in 1995! In 2016, more than 50,000 new books were collected.

Project Flight was founded and is still run by distinguished State University College of New York at Buffalo Professors Dr. Geraldine E. Bard and Dr. Betty J. Cappella. Project Flight has been recognized by the New York State Department of Education for developing a suggested book list for educators, parents, children and young adults.
Books for Kids donations (new children’s books) can be dropped off at the following locations during April 2017:
· Wegmans - All locations in Erie and Niagara Counties.
· Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries - All locations.
· The Buffalo News, Washington & Scott Sts.
· Dipson Movie Theatres - All locations in Erie and Niagara counties
· Mattress Firm - all Erie County locations
· Raymour & Flanigan - all Erie County locations
· Tom's Restaurant - 3221 Sheridan Dr., Amherst
