2017 CHESS OPEN HOUSE EVENTS @ DOWNTOWN CENTRAL LIBRARY

2017 Chess Open House Events @ Downtown Central Library 

This coming Sunday, January 29 marks the first of 2017’s monthly Chess events held at the downtown Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. These events are hosted by Archangel 8 Chess Academy and the Johnetta R. Cole AMVETS, and are free and open to the public. All ages and abilities  are welcome to watch, compete or learn to play chess.

The January 29 Chess Open House is presented in honor of all Veterans and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The Aloma D. Johnson USCF National Scholastic Chess Team and Girls in Chess Rock, USCF National Chess Team members, will be featured. All adult and scholastic players will play 3-4 friendly and casual games, with USCF rules enforced.

Other dates in 2017 at the Downtown Library – all 12-30-4:30 p.m. -- will be:

          Sunday, February 26

          Sunday, March 26

          Sunday, April 30

          Sunday, May 21

Summer and fall dates to be announced.

Competing players are asked to pre-register at Knightsof64@yahoo.com. Competitors are requested to bring a Staunton style chess set with an algebraic chess board and digital chess clock if possible.
