Buffalo Sabres Defenseman Josh Gorges & Sabretooth Join the Library for Winter Reading 2016 Announcement Buffalo Sabres

Defenseman Josh Gorges was joined by dozens of school children from Buffalo’s Bennett Park Montessori school at Central Library this afternoon to hear plans for Library System’s communitywide 2016 Winter Reading Challenge. “You can discover and explore new worlds when you read a book,” said Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski. “Reading not only enhances your imagination, it is fun!” added Jakubowski.

Now through Friday, March 18, readers of all ages are encouraged to get a book, read it, and then log a short book review on the Library System website (www.BuffaloLib.org). The more books one reads, the greater the odds of winning a prize. There will be one winner randomly selected at each of the 37 Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries in categories for Children/Teens, Classrooms and Adults. One lucky adult will score a Kindle eReader. Additionally, upon online registration, and submission, each contestant is eligible to win one of the 37 branch-level prizes including a $25 Amazon gift card.

Now in his second season with the Buffalo Sabres, Josh Gorges, who wears #4 jersey, took a break from his busy hockey schedule to skate over to the downtown Central Library where he read the adorable children’s story If you Give A Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff to Bennett Park students in second through fifth grades.
