Indie Author Day

Calling All Writers -Downtown Central Library to Host Showcase for Independent Authors on Saturday, October 8, 2016

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library at 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo will host “Indie Author Day” on Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Authors local to Erie County are urged to sign up for this free showcase event – space is limited and on a first come, first served basis by e-mailing conablea@buffalolib.org for an application.

“Indie Author Day” will offer local authors visibility in a tradeshow type format at the Downtown Library, at which time they can discuss their work, sell copies of their books, connect with other local writers, and learn more about publishing options from a series of onsite expert speakers.

“Indie Author Day” is free and open to the public.  It is part of a first-ever national effort on Saturday, October 8 to connect local independent authors with public libraries across the nation.

“There is a flourishing literary community here in Western New York, and we want to shine a light on the many gifted local writers,” stated Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski.  “The Library has made a commitment to include books by local authors in our collection, and we hope ‘Indie Author Day’ helps encourage new writers -- and readers – to discover and appreciate this collection of books written by hometown writers.”
