ECHO ART FAIR 2013 LAUNCHES

Announces exciting new venue partnership,

jury selection, and call for artists

January 28, 2013 New York, NY — The organizers of echo Art Fair [www.echoartfair.com] are pleased to announce the 3rd annual echo Art Fair September 7 and 8, 2013 at the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s Central Library (BECPL), in downtown Buffalo, NY.

echo Art Fair, a juried fine art exposition, continues its mission of providing a platform for independent artists and galleries to present their work to a jury of contemporary art experts, and to showcase and sell their work. echo Art Fair also seeks to highlight the vitality of the fine art community in Buffalo and throughout the region. Last year’s echo featured more than 65 artists and galleries from WNY, the United States, and Canada and drew more than 10,000 visitors over three days.

This year, echo Art Fair is delighted to partner with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library. echo Art Fair founder E. Frits Abell said, “We are extremely excited about producing this year's echo Art Fair at the downtown Central Library, which continues to strengthen its ties to our cultural community as it becomes one of the region’s primary cultural hubs.”

Mary Jean Jakubowski, Director of the Public Library System noted, "We are so pleased to open our doors to this major exposition and look forward to more partnerships of this nature.” A portion of the revenues from echo Art Fair will be donated to the Library in support of its cultural outreach.

Abell also adds two new members to the echo production team: Sarah JM Kolberg and Brooke Leboeuf. Kolberg, Chief Operating Officer for echo, has extensive experience in public relations and political strategy consulting with an emphasis on arts and cultural not-for-profits. She is a PhD candidate in Visual Studies, and an MFA candidate in Media Study at the University at Buffalo. Prior to returning to graduate school, she was Chief of Staff to former Assemblyman Sam Hoyt, for whom she worked for more than a decade. Brooke Leboeuf, Director of Artist Relations for echo, currently manages a private art collection. She previously worked for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery as the project coordinator for multi-venue arts exhibition Beyond/In WNY 2010 and as the visual arts curator for Buffalo Arts Studio.

echo Art Fair proudly announces its jury lineup for 2013. Jurors participating in the selection process determining the artists and galleries presented at this year’s fair are: Tony Bannon, Executive Director, Burchfield Penney Art Center, Buffalo; Jax Deluca, Executive Director, Squeaky Wheel, Buffalo; Doug Dreishpoon, Chief Curator, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; Roberta Joseph, Collector, Buffalo; Jonathan D. Katz, independent curator and Associate Professor of Visual Studies, University at Buffalo: and Maria Via, Director of Exhibitions, Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester .

echo Art Fair connects experienced collectors and first-time buyers with established and emerging local, regional, and international artists in a centralized, creative environment, showcasing a broad array of fine art disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, prints, works on paper, video and mixed media.

As in previous years, there will be a site-specific component wherein artists of all media will be selected to create interactive, temporary displays that respond to and engage the plaza and other public areas surrounding the Library.

Artists and galleries are invited to submit their works for consideration starting March 4, 2013. Submission guidelines and additional details regarding the event, including sponsorship opportunities, are available at echoartfair.com.
