LIBRARY SYSTEM 2017 BOARD OF TRUSTEES OFFICERS ANNOUNCED
Frank Housh, Esq. Re-elected Chairman
 
Frank Housh, Esq. of Housh Law Offices, PLLC in Buffalo, was re-elected chair of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System Board of Trustees for a second one-year term.  Mr. Housh is chair of the Western New York Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, and an active member of both the New York State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Erie County.  Mr. Housh is also a writer and member of the National Book Critics Circle.  In 2016, Housh created and hosted the Library’s Chairman’s Book Club, an ongoing panel led discussion on timely books.
 
Alan J. Bedenko, Esq. was elected vice chair for a one-year term.  Mr. Bedenko is a partner with
Feldman Kieffer, LLP, and a commentator writing for The Public. In 2014 and 2015, Mr. Bedenko was named one of Western New York’s 250 Most Influential People by Buffalo Business First.
 
Rhonda A. Ricks, Ph.D. was re-elected treasurer for a one-year term.  Dr. Ricks is president/CEO of Inclusion Development Associates, Inc.  She is on the board of trustees for the Niagara Freedom Station Coalition for The Michigan Baptist Church and a member of Elim Christian Fellowship.
 
Kathleen Burd was elected secretary for a one-year term.  Ms. Burd is a trustee for the Village of Kenmore and a board member of Women Elect, as well as a member of the Kenmore Merchants Association and the Kenmore Village Improvement Society.

In 2016, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System’s circulation of materials, representing 37 libraries and a bookmobile, was more than 6.8 million.  The door count was over 3.14 million and there were 705,000 + public access computer sessions.  The Library System has more than 2.5 million materials available for borrowing including books, eBooks, DVDs, music and more. 
 
Free library card applications can be downloaded and taken to any of the local public libraries for processing.  The Library System now offers an online eLibrary card which allows access to those 17 and over to downloadable formats through the website and public computer use.  For more information call
