This site, from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, allows potential adoptive parents to search for children available for adoption. Additionally, the site answers frequently-asked-questions and includes addresses to public and private organizations involved in adoption services.

Child Welfare Information Gateway-Adoption
Formerly the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information and the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse, this site from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services offers a variety of information on all aspects of adoption.
