BUFFALO AND ERIE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF
ITS FRANKENSTEIN POSTER COMPETITION
~ Contest Judged by Buffalo’s Own Adam Frankenstein ~
January 26, 2004 - Buffalo, NY - The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library
(B&ECPL) announced
the winners of its Frankenstein Poster Competition on Saturday, January 24th
following a special Frankenstein panel discussion event at the Central Library.
The poster competition asked high school students to generate a visual depiction
of what a 21st century Frankenstein monster would look like and place their
creation in a Western New York location.
“I was so impressed with the creativity, thought and talent that the
students exhibited in their submissions,” said competition judge and
area resident Adam Frankenstein. “These young adults incorporated modern
day issues, elements from the classic novel and local scenery to compose some
visually entertaining and skillful work.”

at Buffalo Libraries and Just Buffalo Literary Center, hosts a dynamic traveling
exhibition, called Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature. Located
at the Central Library through March 5th, the exhibit examines the novel itself,
scientific development, moral responsibilities, Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
in popular culture and much more.
Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature was developed by the National
Library of Medicine in collaboration with the American Library Association.
It has been made possible by major grants from The National Endowment for the
Humanities, Washington D.C., and the National Library of Medicine, Bethesda,
