CENTRAL LIBRARY HOSTS DISCUSSION ON BESTSELLING NOVEL, THE RULE OF FOUR - Nov. 13th

~ View the Actual, Rare 15th Century Manuscript Central to the Novel ~

October 14, 2004 - Buffalo, NY - The Central Library is hosting a book discussion on the novel, The Rule of Four, written by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. Spending 20 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers List, the title is currently ranked at number 10. The discussion will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 1 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Compared to Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code , The Rule of Four is a thriller set on the Princeton campus, centered on deciphering the mysterious text of an actual 15th century rare manuscript, The Hypnerotomachia Poliphili . Published in Venice in 1499, the title translates to “the struggle for love in a dream,” the text is written in many languages, and the book features detailed woodcut illustrations. Following the discussion, attendees will be able to view and learn more about The Hypnerotomachia Poliphili , which is part of the Central Library's Rare Book Collection. With approximately only 200 copies in existence and just 30 owned by libraries worldwide, this event is a unique opportunity to examine the text that has captivated individuals for hundreds of years and spawned a bestselling novel.
