LIBRARY ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF SERVICE IMPACTS IF COUNTY'S RED BUDGET IS IMPOSED
- Loaning of Library Materials Ends December 7th -
November 12, 2004 - Buffalo , NY - The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) has released a schedule of service impacts if Erie County 's proposed 2005 Red Budget is adopted. This proposal cuts more than $19 million from the Library System's operating budget and necessitates the closing of all 52 public libraries in Erie County , effective January 1, 2005.

“These dates represent the stark reality our community faces if we are forced to shut down due to a lack of funding support,” said B&ECPL Director Michael C. Mahaney. “The services, resources, technology and assistance library patrons have come to value and rely upon will be completely out of reach. We urge residents to voice their concerns to their State and County legislators in the hopes they can work together to find a solution.”
