SOUTH and NORTH CHEEKTOWAGA BRANCH LIBRARIES
ANNOUNCE CLOSING PROCEDURES

Cheektowaga , NY -- The South Cheektowaga Branch Library will be permanently closed as of Saturday, October 1, 2005 . The last day for patrons to borrow materials and pick-up request items will be Friday, September 2 nd . After this date, request items will be transferred to the Julia Boyer Reinstein Library , located at 1030 Losson Road .
The North Cheektowaga Branch Library will be permanently closed as of Tuesday, November 1, 2005 . The last day for patrons to borrow materials and pick-up request items will be Monday, October 3 rd . After this date, request items will be transferred to the Reinstein Memorial Library, located at 2580 Harlem Road .
Returns and payment of fines/fees will be available through the last day of service.
“We thank the community for their support, patronage and cooperation during this difficult transition,” stated Director Elaine C. Mahaney . “Residents are urged to visit the Julia Boyer Reinstein or Reinstein Memorial Libraries in Cheektowaga for all of their information and entertainment needs.”
At its August 18 th meeting, the Cheektowaga Public Library Board of Trustees voted to implement closing procedures at both the South and North Cheektowaga Branch Libraries. This action came as a result of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library's 20% reduction in fourth quarter operating budget allocations for all facilities in the County. In addition, it is anticipated that 2006 funding reductions will necessitate the closing of two of the town's four libraries.
