BLASDELL BRANCH LIBRARY ANNOUNCES CLOSING PROCEDURES

Blasdell , NY -- The Blasdell Branch Library will be permanently closed as of Wednesday, November 30, 2005 . The last day for patrons to borrow materials and pick-up request items will be Monday, October 31st. After this date, request items will be transferred to the Hamburg Library, located at 102 Buffalo Street.
Returns and payment of fines/fees will be available through the last day of service.
“We thank the community for their support, patronage and cooperation during this difficult transition,” stated Director Jack Edson. “Residents are urged to visit the Hamburg or Lake Shore Libraries in Hamburg for all of their information and entertainment needs.”
At its September 26 th meeting, the Hamburg Public Library Board of Trustees voted to implement closing procedures at the Blasdell Branch Library. This action came as a result of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library's (B&ECPL) 20% reduction in fourth quarter operating budget allocations for all facilities in the County. In addition, Blasdell is one of the 16 facilities that will not receive funding from the B&ECPL System in 2006 due to anticipated reductions in County support.
“Our Board of Trustees will actively work with the Town of Hamburg and the Village of Blasdell to develop a plan for the reuse of the Blasdell Library building,” added Edson.
