CENTRAL LIBRARY HOSTS FAMILY EVENT FEATURING

NATIVE AMERICAN STORYTELLER FROM ALASKA -- March 26th

- Discussion and Reception To Follow Entertaining Program -

Buffalo, NY – The Central Library is hosting a special family event featuring Native American Storyteller and Alaskan Ismael Hope . Hope will be performing The Sea Monster and Other Alaskan Stories on Sunday, March 26th at 2 pm in the Mason O. Damon Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Using his gift for characterization and skills as an actor and storyteller, Hope charms and entertains the audience with the story of a man, his mother-in-law and the Sea Monster. An Inupiaq and Tlingit storyteller, he has traveled to communities throughout Alaska. The performance will be followed by a discussion of the artistry and ethics of Native storytelling and a reception hosted by the University at Buffalo 's (UB) Department of Library and Information Studies, School of Informatics, Graduate Student Association and the American Library Association UB Student Chapter.

Hope's storytelling event is part of Stories of the Americas, a performance and speaker series presented by UB's American Studies Graduate Student Association.
