BUFFALO AND ERIE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
HOSTS STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT DAY -- Oct. 18 th
~ 29 Locations Will Be Closed to the Public,
While Others Have Adjusted Open Hours ~

Buffalo , NY -- In order to maintain a capable and responsive staff that delivers effective service in a changing environment, the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) is conducting a Staff Training and Development Day on Wednesday, October 18 th . To allow the majority of staff to attend, many library locations will be closed, while some have adjusted their open hours .
On October 18 th , Library trustees and staff from all locations and levels will assemble at the Central Library in downtown Buffalo to learn about new trends, techniques and technologies that will keep the Library current and relevant to the public. Other activities will build or refresh essential skills for use in the workplace.
“Training and development are necessary elements in the delivery of quality public service to the residents and taxpayers of Erie County ,” stated B&ECPL Director Michael C. Mahaney . “Expanding the knowledge base of library staff is a responsible means of providing good public service.”
Library locations that will be closed on Wednesday, October 18 th include: Central, Angola, Audubon, Boston Free, City of Tonawanda, Clarence, Clearfield, Concord, Crane, Dudley, East Aurora, East Clinton, East Delavan, Eggertsville-Snyder, Grand Island Memorial, Hamburg, Julia Boyer Reinstein, Kenilworth, Lackawanna, Lake Shore, Lancaster, Frank E. Merriweather, Jr., Niagara, North Collins, North Park, Orchard Park, Reinstein Memorial, Riverside, West Seneca and Williamsville.

Library locations that will be open on Wednesday, October 18 th include: Collins from 2 to 8 pm, Eden from 6 to 8 pm, Elma from 1 to 8 pm, Ewell Free from 11 am to 4 pm, Kenmore from 10 am to 6 pm, Newstead from 1 to 8 pm and Marilla from 10 am to 3 pm.
