CENTRAL LIBRARY ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN HOURS FOR BST DEPARTMENT - Effective January 7th
Buffalo, NY -- Effective Monday, January 7th, the Central Library's Business, Science & Technology department will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6 pm, Thursdays from 8:30 am to 8 pm and Sundays from 1 to 5 pm.
Open hours are being increased due to the 2008 level of funding the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) will receive from Erie County. The total funding combines a $22.1 million 2008 Library Tax levy with an additional $1.6 million in restoration through an Interfund Revenue Subsidy from the County General Fund.
"We are grateful to the County Legislature for recognizing that the Library has genuine value in our community," said retiring B&ECPL Director Michael C. Mahaney. "The additional funds will make a major difference with increased open hours at many libraries throughout the system."
The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System connects Erie County's diverse communities with library resources that enrich, enlighten and entertain.
