LANCASTER LIBRARY APPOINTS
JAMES STELZLE
AS NEW DIRECTOR
Buffalo, NY -- From a field of numerous qualified applicants for the Lancaster Public Library Director position, the Library's Board of Trustees has selected James Stelzle of East Aurora to succeed former Director William Sutton, who retired in October.
According to Lancaster Library Trustee President Albert E. Martin, Mr. Stelzle "is the best fit for managing and expanding services at a suburban contract library in our growing community."
"Mr. Stelzle expresses a sincere interest in making our library a community center where people want to come for information in every format,” Martin said.
Mr. Stelzle has worked as a Librarian in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System since 1986. Most recently, he has been a Subject Librarian in the Business, Science and Technology Department at the Central Library in Buffalo.
During his tenure with the Library System, Mr. Stelzle has been a branch manager at seven libraries in the City of Buffalo including the Crane, East Delevan, Dudley, Fronczak, James Mead, Martin Luther King and Cazenovia branch libraries. As a branch manager, Mr. Stelzle's responsibilities included training and supervision of staff, preparation and monitoring of the material and equipment budget, setting and implementing annual goals, and planning and implementation of all programs and marketing strategies.
Mr. Stelzle, who holds an M.L.S. in Information and Library Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, will assume his duties as Director of the Lancaster Library on January 5, 2008.
