Newspaper Holdings: A History of the Hamburg Public Library Quilts on Display
The Hamburg Public Library is celebrating the holiday season with a display of quilts by library director, Jack Edson. This show includes three picture quilts: John Lennon "Imagine" (view quilt); a portrait of French painter Georges Seurat (view quilt) Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (view quilt) ; and a quilt of the old Hamburg Free Library. Macedonian Ambassador Visits Hamburg LibraryHis Excellency, Zoran Jolevski, Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia, was on hand for a ceremony at the Hamburg Library on Friday, June 6, 2008 to present a donation of more than 200 books from the Skopje City Library in Macedonia to the Hamburg and Lackawanna Public Libraries. Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Director Bridget Quinn-Carey joined Hamburg Director Jack Edson and Lackawanna Director Jennifer Hoffman to accept the donation. The donation is part of the American Corner Project, which is a worldwide cooperative initiative developed by the U.S. Department of State to join together countries around the world through books, music and the Internet. The B&ECPL coordinated the project locally with the help of Dr. Lorna Peterson from the University at Buffalo School of Library and Information Studies.
