What's Special About the Hamburg Library

A History of the Hamburg Public Library
A program detailing the history of the Hamburg Public Library was researched, written and presented by Librarian John R. Edson in 2001. More details are available here.

Quilts on Display The Hamburg Public Library is celebrating the holiday season with a display of quilts by library director, Jack Edson. This show includes three picture quilts: John Lennon "Imagine" (view quilt); a portrait of French painter Georges Seurat (view quilt) Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (view quilt) ; and a quilt of the old Hamburg Free Library.

Macedonian Ambassador Visits Hamburg Library

His Excellency, Zoran Jolevski, Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia, was on hand for a ceremony at the Hamburg Library on Friday, June 6, 2008 to present a donation of more than 200 books from the Skopje City Library in Macedonia to the Hamburg and Lackawanna Public Libraries. Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Director Bridget Quinn-Carey joined Hamburg Director Jack Edson and Lackawanna Director Jennifer Hoffman to accept the donation.

The donation is part of the American Corner Project, which is a worldwide cooperative initiative developed by the U.S. Department of State to join together countries around the world through books, music and the Internet. The B&ECPL coordinated the project locally with the help of Dr. Lorna Peterson from the University at Buffalo School of Library and Information Studies.
