What's Special About the Lackawanna Library The Lackawanna Public Library is a beautiful colonial style building with magnificent oak woodwork throughout the interior. The Library is one of the last Carnegie Libraries ever constructed (1922). It houses a local history and steel plant museum in tribute to the once mighty steel industry in the region. The museum also contains old city directories, microfilm of Lackawannas local newspapers and the Victorian, a publication devoted to the memory of Father Nelson H. Baker. The childrens room has a bright and colorful carousel motif. Macedonian Ambassador Visits Hamburg Library The donation is part of the American Corner Project, which is a worldwide cooperative initiative developed by the U.S. Department of State to join together countries around the world through books, music and the Internet. The B&ECPL coordinated the project locally with the help of Dr. Lorna Peterson from the University at Buffalo School of Library and Information Studies.
