Good Vibrations

October 22nd •
What's that Sound?
How does sound travel through the air to get to your ear? Join us as we perform experiments to answer this question and explore the library using our sense of hearing. We'll also play a fun game of "Guess that Sound!"

October 29th •
Bang and Strum!

Some of the most common instruments in music are percussion and string. Guitar, drums, and bass play a part in almost every song on the radio, but there are many more instruments like them. Can you think of any? Don't miss out as we make a percussion instrument to bring home!

November 5th •
Don't Hold Your Breath.
Did you know the oldest instruments are flutes made from bones? Brass and woodwind instruments come in many shapes and sizes, but they all require breath to be played. Listen as we explore all of the sounds these instruments make and create one to bring home!

November 12th •
Rhythm and Dance!
Now we know about instruments, but what about music? During this lesson, we will learn about rhythm and what makes songs sound happy or sad. We will also listen to music from around the world and learn how important music and dance are for many cultures.

November 19th •
Wild about Music!

Humans aren't the only ones to care about sounds and music. I bet you can think of some musical animals. Join us as we explore the music of nature. Listen to bird songs and whale songs. Learn the many different ways animals communicate and hunt using sound.
