Frank Housh, Esq., Library System Board Chair

At the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s last Board of Trustees meeting,

Frank Housh, Esq. of Housh Law Offices, PLLC in Buffalo, was re-elected chair for a third,

one-year term.  Mr. Housh is also a writer and member of the National Book Critics Circle.  In 2016, Housh created the Library’s Chairman’s Book Club, an ongoing panel-led discussion on timely books. Mr. Housh resides in West Seneca.

Alan J. Bedenko, Esq. was re-elected vice chair for a one-year term.  Mr. Bedenko is a partner with Feldman Kieffer, LLP.  In 2014 and 2015, Mr. Bedenko was named one of “Western New York’s 250 Most Influential People” by Buffalo Business First.   Mr. Bedenko resides in Clarence.

Joel C. Moore, Esq. was elected treasurer for a one-year term.  Mr. Moore is assistant legal counsel for the Buffalo Public Schools.  Mr. Moore resides in Buffalo.

Kimberly Johnson was elected secretary for a one-year term.  Ms. Johnson is senior billing account clerk with the Erie County Probation Department.  Ms. Johnson resides in Buffalo.

Executive Committee members, along with Board Chair Frank Housh and Vice Chair Alan Bedenko, are:  Sheldon M. Berlow, associate broker, Pyramid Brokerage, Inc.; Kathleen Berens Bucki, (resides in Amherst) school librarian; and Rhonda A. Ricks, PhD, president/CEO of Inclusion Development Associates, Inc. (resides in Buffalo).

Michael Amodeo, Esq.; Kathleen Burd, (resides in Kenmore) trustee, Kenmore Village and assistant to the president, Hadley Exhibits, Inc.; Lucy A. Candelario, executive director, The Belle Center; Frank Gist, retired Buffalo firefighter and owner of Greater Buffalo Bail Bonds Agency; Theodore K. Johnson, president Hadley Exhibits Inc.; Sharon M. Kelly, Esq., (resides in East Aurora) attorney, Hodgson Russ LLP; Elaine M. Panty, retired City of Buffalo Water Authority employee; and Wayne D. Wisbaum, Esq., (resides in Amherst) partner, Kavinoky Cook, LLP.

Trustee emeriti are W. Lawrence Buck, Jack Connors, Richard O. Hopkins, Hon. Salvatore R. Martoche and Rebecca L. Pordum.

Mary Jean Jakubowski is Library System Director. Ms. Jakubowski resides in Lancaster.

In 2017, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System’s circulation of materials, representing 37 libraries and the Library on Wheels bookmobile, was over nearly 6.4 million.  The total door count was approximately 3 million and there were over 18 million visits to the Library System website www.BuffaloLib.org.  Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries have more than 3 million materials available for borrowing including books, eBooks, DVDs, music and more.
