Celtika by Robert Holdstock
Fiction
This is a story about Merlin's life long before the Arthurian stories. Merlin sailed with Jason when he captured the Golden Fleece. It is now 700 years later, and Jason has reappeared. This story takes place against the backdrop of the historic invasion of Greece by Brennus the Gaul . Lots of interesting characters, magic, and scenes of what it would be like to travel with a massive Celtic army. It's a little hard to follow if you aren't familiar with all the mythic and historical references.
