Located on Buffalo Street (Route 62) between Pleasant Avenue and Union Street, this lively library is nestled in the village of Hamburg. If you are looking for a great film collection, preschool story hours or a comfortable place to catch up on the daily news, the Hamburg Public Library may be the place for you. 

Our parking lot entrance is located on Union Street near the Buffalo Street intersection.

Come visit our newly opened outdoor Reading Garden! The Garden is open from Spring into Fall.

Free WiFi. 21 public access computers plus 6 laptops that can be checked out for use within the building. Networked printing is 10¢ per page B&W and 25¢ per page color. Copy machine at 25¢ per page.

The Hamburg Library has a meeting room that can be available for community meetings. Please complete the following application and return to the main desk.

Phoebe the Reading Dog: Saturdays, May 18th and 25th, 9:30. Share a story with our licensed therapy dog!

Mother's Day Make and Take: Saturday, May 4th, 12 - 4. Stop by our craft stations to make something mom will love. Family fun for all ages.

Family Movie Night: Friday, May 10th, 6:30. Ralph Breaks the Internet.  Join us for movie night and a craft!  Registration required.

LEGO Club: Pan-American Building Challenge: Saturday, May 11th, 1 - 3. One Community One Book Event. Join us for a special LEGO club and try to recreate a Pan-American Expo Building! Registration required.

Teen Job Fair: Friday, May 17th, 3:30 - 5:30.  Ages 16-24. Dress to impress and meet directly with local businesses, government agencies and local nonprofits who are hiring. Bring your resume and a pen to fill out applications.

Sensory Saturday: Saturday, May 18th, 10-12. Join us for a room filled with different sensory activities. Playing is learning! For ages birth-5. Registration required.

Victorian Dance Society: Saturday, May 18th, 2.  One Community One Book event.  The Amherst Victorian Dance Society will present a discussion and demonstration of the dances made popular during the reign of Queen Victoria. 

Battle of the Books Informational Meeting: Friday, May 24th, 6:30. Join Team Hamburg! We are hosting an informational meeting for the Battle of the Books competition. Open to those entering grades 6-9. The Battle takes place on August 3rd at ECC. 

 

Storytimes

Lapsit with Miss Ashley: Wednesdays at 10, May 8th through 29th. For ages birth-2. Stories andsensory play.

Storytime Shook Up with Miss Laurie: Mondays and Fridays at 10:30, May 6th to 31st.  Although geared toward ages 2 to 5, all ages are welcome!  Registration required.

Storytime at Comfort Zone Café: Tuesday, May 28th, at 10. The Hamburg Public Library and   Comfort Zone Cafe are teaming up to bring you a storytime and craft! Stop by the counter before or after the program to check out the specials available just for program attendees!

 

Adult Events

Excel Intermediate: Monday, May 6th, 1 - 3. Building off the Excel Basics course, this class will teach you how to customize a spreadsheet through formatting as well as inserting charts. Registration required.

Director’s Book Club:  Friday, May 17th, 11. Origin by Dan Brown.

Cookbook Club: Friday, May 17th, 6:30. The Can’t Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld. Sign up to bring a dish at the desk and join us for dinner!

Outsmart the Scammers: Thursday, June 13th, 6:30 – 8. An Edward Jones program. Learn more about fraud and how to protect yourself from scammers. Registration required.

Director’s Book Club:  Friday, June 21st, 11. True Grit by Charles Portis.  Mattie Ross recounts the story of her adventures many years earlier, at 14, when she undertook a quest to avenge her father's death at the hands of a drifter named Tom Chaney (235 pages).
