Located on Buffalo Street (Route 62) between Pleasant Avenue and Union Street, this lively library is nestled in the village of Hamburg. If you are looking for a great film collection, preschool story hours or a comfortable place to catch up on the daily news, the Hamburg Public Library may be the place for you. 

Our parking lot entrance is located on Union Street near the Buffalo Street intersection.

Free WiFi. 21 public access computers plus 6 laptops that can be checked out for use within the building. Networked printing is 10¢ per page B&W and 25¢ per page color. Copy machine at 25¢ per page.

The Hamburg Library has a meeting room that can be available for community meetings. Please complete the following application and return to the main desk.

Book Club at the Hamburg Library

Director's Book Club:

Meets the third Friday of every month at 11:00am. Please join us for a great discussion. The list of upcoming books are as follows.

 

Calling all musicians!The Hamburg Library is a Make Music Day site! The event takes place on June 21 from 1-9. We are looking for performers of all music styles! Can be a solo or ensemble performance! Call 649-4415 for more details.

Storytime Shook Up with Miss Laurie: May 4, 11 and 18, 10:00. Although geared toward ages 2 to 5, all ages are welcome!  Registration required.

Moving Mondays with Miss Laurie: May 7 and 14, 10:30! Although geared toward ages 2 to 5, all ages are welcome!  Registration required.

Phoebe the Reading Dog: Phoebe is here from 12-1 every other Sunday. Share a story with her!

LEGO Club: May 12, 1-3. Make a LEGO creation. Registration required.

Storytime at Comfort Zone Café: May 29, 10. The Hamburg Public Library and Comfort Zone Cafe are teaming up to bring you a storytime and craft! Stop by the counter before or after the program to check out the specials available just for program attendees!

 

Special Events:

Family Movie Night: May 4, 6:30. May the 4th be at your Library! It’s a Star Wars Party and we are  blasting off with a movie night and craft! Registration required.

Jedi Training Academy: May 5, 1-3. On May 5, in a town called Hamburg.... young Padawans will begin Jedi training at the Hamburg Library. Navigate Stormtrooper fire, train with lightsabers, defeat Darth Vader... and much more in this family fun event! There will be activities, crafts, tech-fun and snacks! Costumes are strongly encouraged! Registration required.

Yoda Yoga: May 5, 3:30. Prepare to use the Force by training mind and body! Geared toward ages 6-10 but all ages welcome. Registration is required for this class.

Battle of the Books Informational Meeting: May 8, 4:30. Join Team Hamburg! We are hosting an informational meeting for the 20th Annual Battle of the Books competition. The Battle takes place on August 4th at ECC. 

Jedi ‘Jamma Party: May 22, 6:30. A Star Wars storytime with a craft. Pajamas encouraged! Registration required.

Page to Screen Movie: May 7, 6:30. A One Community One Book Event*! See Ernest Hemingway’s true-life experience in WWI, and his inspiration for his novel A Farewell to Arms. Based on the book Hemingway in Love and War by Henry S. Villard and James Nagel. 

Tickle-Toe Tommy: Supernatural Folklore and the Great War: May 11, 6:30. A One Community One Book Event*! Hear supernatural historian Mason Winfield speak about ghosts of WWI, with a WNY connection!

Book a Tech May 14, 12-3. Sign up for a 45 minute session to work with a technology instructor. Registration required.

Director’s Book Club: May 18, 11. Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows.

Director’s Book Club: June 15th, 11. Loving Frank by Nancy Horan.  This novel tells the story of the love affair between Mamah Borthwick Cheney and famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
