23 Public Access Computers

All computers are networked, including 2 laptops with wireless printing and a workstation with a flatbed scanner available. All computers have Microsoft Office 2007 Applications, Internet Access, Misc. "What can I do at a Public Access Computer?"

Printing 10 cents B&W per page, 25 cents color per page.

Meeting Room

Capacity 49. Wireless internet access point in room for excellent WiFi. Meeting room is also equipped for multimedia presentations. Used for library programs, available for use by nonprofit organizations (registration required call 662-9851).

MOBILE DEVICE 

CHARGING STATIONS           

The Orchard Park Library has recently added two mobile device charging stations so you can charge your device while you work in the library. 

 

 

 

BLACK & WHITE COPY MACHINE         

For your convenience the Orchard Park Library also has a black & white copy machine. Copies are 15 cents each for 8.5 X 11in (letter sized), copies 30 cents each for 8.5 X 14in (legal sized) 

 

What's Special About the Orchard Park Library

Located adjacent to the historic 1920s Railroad Depot Station, the Orchard Park Library serves southern Erie County as a center for reference and homework help with its large non-fiction collection. It has an extensive fiction, DVD and audio book collection. The children's collection is highlighted by innovative special displays and an interactive play area.  A chessboard is available for public use.

Special programs for all ages, story times for children and computer classes are offered continually.

And finally and most importantly, it is our knowledgeable and responsive staff that makes our library so effective, friendly and welcoming.

Our Friends of the Orchard Park Public Library is the largest and most active Friends group in Erie County. They sponsor the 4th Tuesday speaker series, many of our special children's programs, quarterly donated book sales, an annual rare book sale and ongoing Book Nook, Book Cart and online book sales (www.ebay.com/usr/oplibrary).  Guidelines for book sale donations may be found here:

Up to five (5) medium sized boxes or bags will be accepted once per day.  Friends have purchased many shelves, display units and other equipment that make this library so special. New members are always welcome. For more information, visit the Friends website: www.friendsofoplibrary.org.

Children's Programs

Baby Storytime

10am Monday March 4th—April 8th. Baby Story Time is a fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children under 2 years. Join us for age appropriate stories, interactive activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration is required and begins on February 19th. 

 

Toddler Storytime

11am Monday, March 4th—April 8th.Toddler Story Time is a fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children aged 2. Join us for age appropriate stories, interactive activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration is required and begins on February 19th. 

 

 Preschool Storytime

10:30am Tuesday March 5th—April 9th. Preschool Story Time encourages school-readiness through fun stories and group activities geared for children ages 2-5 with a caregiver. Join us for age appropriate stories, activities, music and a craft. Registration is required and will begin on February 19th. 

 

Independent Preschool Storytime

10:30am Independent Preschool Story Time encourages school-readiness through fun stories and group activities geared for children ages 3-5. Caregivers enjoy the library while their children attend independently. Join us for age appropriate stories, activities, music and a craft. Runs Thursday, March 7th—April 11th.

 

Make it Monday

4pm​ March 4th through April 8th Join us as we play, create and discover! Miss Carly plans a different craft each week including Paper Lanterns, Drip Paint Flowers, Beaded Shamrocks, Cookie Decorating, Sandpaper Art and Cute Clay Crafts. All Ages. Registration not required. 

 

On The Iditarod Trail with the Siberian Husky Club of Niagara Frontier

Saturday March 2nd at 1pm The Siberian Husky Club of the Niagara Frontier is visiting the library at 1pm on March 2nd for a meet and greet with the original sled-dogs, Siberian Huskies! There will be a meet and greet with real Huskies and trainers from the Siberian Husky Club of the Niagara Frontier. This is an all-ages program, and a great opportunity to learn more about one of the most challenging sporting events in the world! Registration is required.

 

Storytime at the Station

Saturday March 9th at 10am with Miss Carly! Join us for stories and songs at the Histoical Orchard Park Railway Depot! No registration required. 

 

LEGO Club

Join Miss Carly on Saturday March 9th at 1pm Join Miss Carly and friends for a different challenge each month! LEGOs are provided just bring your imagination! Registration is required. 

 

Buffalo Animal Adventures

on Saturday March 16th at 2pm Buffalo Animal Adventures is coming to the Orchard Park Public Library on Saturday March 16th. Animal ambassadors from around the world will be exhibited in an educational and exciting way by an experienced Animal Adventures Wildlife Educator. This unique show is free and open to the public! Registration is required.

 

Space Crafts

Saturday March 23rd at 2pm Make some out of this world crafts to take home! Registration is required. Call 662-9851 to sign up. 

 

Pearler Bead Party 

Saturday March 30th at 1pm Make a pixel perfect pearler bead project. Make a key-chain or zipper pull - templates will be provided but free style design is encouraged! Registration is required. Call 662-9851 to sign up. 

 

Teen Programs

 

Teen Volunteer Opportunity

Saturday March 23rd from 11am -4pm. Need Community Service Hours? The Orchard Park Library needs Middle School and High School Volunteers interested in completing community service to run a monthly children's program. The event will take place on Saturday, February 23rd from 12-4pm. Teens can sign up to participate in this community service opportunity in 1 hour shifts, for a maxiumum of 5 hours of service. All new volunteers must fill out an application. Call to sign up or for more details.

 

NovelTeen

Tuesday March 19th A fun tween/teen book and movie club! Call 662-9851 to find out what book and movie will be covered this month! Call 662-9851 for more information. 

 

LEGO Mindstorms

Friday March 22nd from 3:30-4:30pm Come experiment in coding with out new Lego Mindstorms Robots! Supplied kits give children the opportunity to one their STEM skills while allowing them the use of their imaginations. Ages 8 & up. Registration is required.

In Good Health

Tuesday March 12th at 6:30pm The Meditation Session Lots of information has shown the that the benefits of meditation to brain and neural health is enormous! The practice can help you reduce stress, control anxiety, promote emotional health, enhance self-awareness, and reduce memory loss. Come to learn the basics of meditation in this FREE session. Please come dressed comfortably and bring any sitting pillows you may need. For more information, please call the Orchard Park Library at (716) 662-9851.

 

Friends of the Library 4th Tuesday Speaker Series

Tuesday March 26th at 7pm A different guest presents on various topics on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Registration is not required. 

 

Knitting Club

Every Wednesday night from 7:30-8:45pm Are you interested in learning how to knit or just getting together with other knitters? Come join us at the Orchard Park Public Library Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm No registration required—just show up! Supplies are available for beginners, but if you have your own materials feel free to bring them. No experience necessary. Already know how to knit? Come make new friends, learn a new technique, knit for charity or just have some creative fun! Any questions, please call the library at 662-9851
