Local Authors to Participate in Third Indie Author Day

Downtown Central Library Hosts Free Showcase for Authors
Saturday, October 13, 2018

Buffalo will host its third annual Indie Author Day on Saturday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  More than 55 local authors will showcase their publications, representing a cross-section of all types of literature.

Part of a worldwide effort to connect independent authors with public libraries, Indie Author Day will offer local writers a rare opportunity to network with other authors, share their work with the public and learn the ins and outs of self-publishing and marketing their books.  The event will include presentations by local publishing experts as well as streaming videos featuring leaders in the self-publishing industry.  Attendees can mingle with the local writers and purchase copies of their books at this event, which is free and open to the public.

“There is a strong and devoted literary community here in Western New York, and we are proud to shine a light on local authors,” said Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski.  “The Library is committed to including books by local talent in its collection, and we hope Indie Author Day will help encourage readers, writers and future authors to explore and appreciate the diverse literary offerings of hometown authors.”
