Most Popular Borrowed Materials in 2016 from Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries

Have you read any of the most popular books of the last year based on Buffalo & Erie County Public Library cardholders?  The complete list is below including a “People’s Choice” selection for best book of the year.  The titles represent borrowing habits of nearly 300,000 library patrons of all ages who use the 37 local public libraries and the “Library on Wheels” bookmobile, which began service in June.  The list includes the most popular and most requested book titles, along with the top downloaded eBooks.

Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System Director Mary Jean Jakubowski had a few favorite books this year, each one about perseverance, hope and survival: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah; The Art of Risk: The New Science of Courage, Caution & Chance by Kayt Sukel; and Etched in Sand: A True Story of Five Siblings Who Survived an Unspeakable Childhood on Long Island by Regina Calcaterra.    

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System has more than 3 million materials available for borrowing through the 37 branch and bookmobile system including downloadable eBooks, music and video, DVDs and books on CD.  Free library card applications can be downloaded 24/7 and taken to any local public library for processing.  A valid form of identification and proof of address are necessary.  Those under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to obtain a library card and the guardian is required to have valid identification.  Become a fan of our Facebook page (Buffalo & Erie County Public Library - Central Library) and follow us on Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
