What’s Black and White and Read All Over?

Fundraising Event to Benefit the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System

Friday, November 16 at the Hotel Lafayette

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System, together with the newly formed Young Professionals group, is pleased to announce What’s Black and White and Read All Over?  an event celebrating all 37 libraries while helping raise funds for the free materials and multiple services libraries provide our community.

What’s Black and White and Read All Over? takes place Friday, November 16, 2012 from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. in the Grand Marquis Ballroom of the newly renovated historic Hotel @ Lafayette. Located next to the Central Library in the heart of downtown Buffalo, everyone 21 and older is invited to attend for a fabulous evening of great food, drinks, music by DJ Keri Callocchia, silent and basket auctions, a wine wall and complimentary photo booth photos. We are pleased to announce that the evening’s emcee will be WGR radio’s Jeremy White. A ticket of $75 includes food, valet parking, open bar and a night of entertainment.

Budget cuts in recent years have left the Libraries with the challenge of meeting the growing service needs of the residents of Erie County. Last year, libraries from one end of Erie County to the other served nearly 17,000 patrons daily with book borrowing, eBooks, music and film downloads, children, teen and family programs, computer services and training, Wi-Fi and more.

“The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System with its 37 locations is truly one of our community’s best values,” said Mary Jean Jakubowski, Library System director.

“Bringing people together to raise money for programs and materials while celebrating at Buffalo’s premier destination is an excellent way to support the Library and give back.”

What’s Black and White and Read All Over? is being planned  by the  newly formed Young Professionals board, a group of dedicated volunteers interested in promoting the value of the library and raising money to support library initiatives.  The event is sponsored by Buffalo Business First, Sterling United, the Alvarez Family Foundation, Dr. Daniel and Anne Leary;  Wayne D. Wisbaum;  BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York; Cooper Planning Group;  EnvisionWare  Inc.;  Hadley Exhibits Inc.;  Hodgson Russ LLP; JM Management Services; Kennedy, Stoeckl & Martin PC;  Lawley Insurance;  Phillips Lytle LLP;  Schroeder, Braxton & Vogt Inc.;  Webster Szanyi LLP, andthe Library Foundation of Buffalo & Erie County.
