  • Family Storytime - Choose one of three meeting times: Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from April 29th to June 13th at 10:30 AM. For ages birth to 5 years old. This is a 6-week session. Treat your kids to some songs and stories! Children must bring an adult lap to sit on. Please register by calling 716-652-2719.

  • K-3 Storytime and Craft - Wednesday, May 21st at 6:30 PM. The theme is “Laugh Out Loud at Your Library“. Get ready to giggle! This fun-filled story time for kids in Kindergarten—3rd grade will celebrate the joy of laughter, imagination, and togetherness through books and play. We’re also inviting you to come in your silliest attire—whether it’s crazy hats, funny socks, or even a wacky costume, the sillier, the better! Please register by calling 716-652-2719. 

  • Book Club - Wednesday, May 21st at 6:30 PM. The month's book selection is “Seven Days in June” by Tia Williams. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book. All are welcome.

  • Android/Apple Basics - Friday, May 23rd at 2 PM. In this class, learn about how Android & Apple-powered devices work, what you need to get one running, popular features, adding apps, and much more. Please register by calling 716-652-2719.

  • Family Movie Matinee - Saturday, May 24th at 1 PM. Join us for a free viewing of the new family film “Sonic the Hedgehog 3“ at the Elma Public Library! We'll have free popcorn and snacks! Rated PG. No need to register.

  • University Express: Wonderful Words of Shakespeare - Tuesday, May 27th at 2 PM. The Oxford English Dictionary lists more than 1,700 words which appear for the first time in Shakespeare’s writing. He was the first person we know of to use these words in print. However, there are as many as 400 words which Shakespeare may have actually invented himself. Whether by combining two words that already existed to create something new, or by taking common words and changing the parts of speech, there are so many words in the English Language made popular by Shakespeare. In this workshop, we will explore some of Shakespeare’s words and work together to create a poem or sonnet with them. Please register by calling 716-652-2719.

  • The Past, Present, and Future of Artificial Intelligence - Monday, June 2nd at 6 PM. This workshop offers participants a comprehensive look at AI, from its beginnings, to present functionality, and what future work is being done. Special attention is given to how to use AI presently, with tips for prompting, considerations for data privacy, and a deeper understanding of what goes on behind the screen when you get AI generated content.   • Advance Care Planning 101 with A Storied Life - Wednesday, June 4th at 12:30 PM to 2 PM. Making decisions about the health care that you want as you live the end of your life is complicated. But thinking it through and talking about it now might be some of the most lifegiving things you can do - for yourself, for your loved ones, and for your health care providers. Don't avoid it now and miss your chance to live that time the way you wish you would have. In this session, we will cover: Advance Directives (Health Care Proxy, Living Will, and Do Not Resuscitate/DNR Order), How to Think About & Talk About What Matters Most to Us and Resources to Support You.   • University Express: Family Court Explained & Grandparent Legal Issues - Tuesday, June 17th at 2 PM. Explanation of basic Family Court Issues such as Child Custody, Access (Visitation), Child Support, Foster Care and Juvenile Justice. New York State Website will be demonstrated for Do It Yourself (DIY) forms & information. How to proceed in Court without a lawyer. A "typical" case will be explained.   • University Express: Sparrows, Seeds, and Safety - Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30 PM. Feeding birds is a hobby enjoyed by many people. This hobby provides enjoyment for humans and a vital food source for our avian friends. Did you know that bird feeders and feeding stations can be a source of illness for birds? Are you wondering if you should continue feeding the birds during the recent outbreak of H5 bird flu? Are you at risk of contracting H5 bird flu when filling the feeders?   • University Express: Connecting You to Key Services - Tuesday, June 24th at 2 PM. Learn about congregate and home-delivered meals, nutrition counseling, employment and volunteer opportunities, senior centers, transportation, in-home supports as well as support to family, friends, and neighbors who may be providing assistance to older adults and much more.   • University Express: Reach Out to 911 - Wednesday, June 25th at 6:30 PM. The Reach Out to 911 program educates the public on when and how to call 9-1-1. Instructors present proper emergency response protocols, enhancing community preparedness and reducing anxiety associated with emergency calls. It also guides people on when to call 911 versus using other services like 211 (for basic needs), 988 (for people experiencing thoughts of suicide or a mental health crisis) or 1-800-222-1222 (for the Upstate New York Poison Center), helping to prevent misuse of 9-1-1 in non-emergency situations.
