Everything leftover is FREE! Bring your own bag.
Individual items: $1.00 hardcovers and media, 50¢ paperbacks and children's books, $1.00 puzzles. Cash only. All proceeds will help keep the library open on Sundays during the school year. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lancaster Library.

Kits
We have a variety of kits available for a 7-day loan. Kits must be returned to the Lancaster Library information desk during open hours.

  • Accessibility/sensory Kits - Useful kits to help children develop skills in social/emotional management, fine/gross motor skills, and sensory/calming management. Kits include a social-emotional learning kit, emotional management toolkit and accessories, try before you buy fidget kit, basic gross motor skills kit, finger strengthening kit, oral-motor skills kit, sorting games kit, handwriting tools kit, wobble balance board, scooter board, step-a-forest, therapy balls, agility ladder, and a hair puller/skin picker fidget kit. In-library items include noise-cancelling headphones, a wobble cushion, a high contrast keyboard, and various fidget toys.
     
  • Citizen Science Kits - A citizen science kit holds everything needed to gather data for a specific citizen science project. Borrow Exploring Biodiversity, Firefly Watch, Lost Ladybug Project, Measuring Light in the Night, Monitoring Air Quality, Observing Pollinators, Project Squirrel, ZomBee Hunting, and Animal Tracks (in the Snow).
  • Empire Pass - An empire pass permits free vehicle access to New York State parks. Visit places such as Beaver Island, Niagara Falls, Letchworth, and more.
  • Garden Tools - Helpful tools to help you plant, grow, and harvest. Tools include pruners, trowels, hand seeders, cultivators, and more. 
  • Learning Kits - Borrow adult coloring, birdwatching, hiking, family gardening, advanced gardening, butterfly watching, scavenger hunt, and fishing rods.
  • Literacy Kits - Borrow The Hungry Little Caterpillar, letters, colors & shapes, knitting & crocheting, fairy tales STEM, numbers, handwriting, phonics, and sign language.
  • Memory Kits - These kits feature a variety of items to inspire memories, discussion, and interaction with people experiencing memory loss. Themes: animals, movies/tv, history, and games. 
  • STEAM-to-Go Kits - These kits enrich STEAM activities for educators, parents/guardians, and homeschool families. Kits include Ready, Set Kindergarten, Understanding our Universe, Trucks and Tools, and Biscuit® Phonics. 

Seed Library
Our seed library provides free seeds for our community to grow and share. We have a variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. Patrons/families are allowed up to 4 seed packets per year. Seeds have been donated by patrons and seed companies. Seeds can be donated to our library by completing a donation form and bringing the form and seeds to the information desk. It's our goal for the library to promote gardening, seed saving, and seed sharing. Happy gardening! View our selection of gardening books.

Yard Games
We have several yard games available for a 7-day loan. Borrow Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, Ring Toss, Bocce, Lawn Darts, Croquet, or Kan Jam for your next party! Yard games must be returned to the Lancaster Library information desk during open hours.

STEM Kits: Sunflower Greenhouses
All April long
Create a greenhouse and grow a sunflower by picking up a free STEM kit to experiment with at home. For ages 7 and up. While supplies last. 

Landscape Solutions with Native Plants
Tuesday, April 30, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Kathy Contrino of CW Native Plant Farm in Akron, NY will offer tips on using native plants in your landscaping. STEM Kits: Origami Jumping Frog Challenge
All May long
Create an origami jumping frog by picking up a free STEM kit to experiment with at home. For ages 7 and up. While supplies last.

Stop by the library to pickup your free tiny art kit (while supplies last) and create a tiny masterpiece. All entries will be submitted in a drawing to win a prize. For all ages.

T'ai Chi Chih
Wednesdays, May 1 - 22, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
T'ai Chi Chih movements are practiced softly with no impact. No particular level of physical fitness, coordination, special clothing or equipment required. Denise Miller is an accredited teacher who has been sharing this wonderful practice with students for many years. Brian Hayden: 111 Places in Buffalo That You Must Not Miss

Learn about the lesser-known stories, off-the-beaten path locales, and hidden gems that make Buffalo and nearby Niagara Falls extraordinary. Brian Hayden is a lifelong Buffalonian with a passion for travel and storytelling. His background in journalism, history, and destination marketing have given him a rich perspective on all that Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Western New York have to offer.
