We have new Citizen Science Kits! We split our Bird Watching kit into two, and now have a Bird Watching “Field Kit” in a backpack that can be taken outside on bird watching trips, along with a Backyard Bird Watching kit for observing your neighborhood birds. There is also our new Space Explorer Kit, which features a Celestron Inspire 100AZ Refractor Telescope in a carrying case with tripod, and a galaxy-design backpack with books and a star map! Our Citizen Science Kits must be checked out on an Adult card and must be picked up and dropped off at the West Seneca Public Library. Kits check out for one week and can be renewed up to one time if there is no waitlist!

Public Voting for the West Seneca Public Library's Bookmark Design Contest for 2026 will begin in the next couple of weeks! Entry forms were due on Friday, July 31st. We will announce once voting has opened. The Bookmark Design Contest is sponsored by our Friends of the West Seneca Public Library Group!

August 2026- AUGUST REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, JULY 10TH

  • Handicraft Club (pdf)-  Join our handicraft club on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. We welcome all sorts of handicrafts including knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and needlework. Beginners and experts are all welcome!  For more information please contact the West Seneca Public Library, 1300 Union Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224 at (716) 674-2928.  Space will be limited. No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
  • Painting for Fun with the West Seneca Art Society (pdf)- People ages 17+ can join the West Seneca Art Society for a fun painting program on Tuesday, August 4th at 5:30pm. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!
  • Baby & Me (pdf)- On Wednesday, August 5th and 12th at 9:30 or 10:30am, babies ages 0-24 months and their parent or guardian can join Miss Emily for a fun lap-sit story time session. You must register for each individual date! Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!
  • Toddler Time with Stay and Play (pdf)- On Thursday, August 6th and 13th at 10:30am, toddlers ages 2 to 4 and their parent or guardian can join Miss Emily for a fun story time session plus time to stay and play.   • Kid's Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, August 6th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.   • Sensory Friday: Taste Safe Mud (pdf)- Miss Emily will be hosting Sensory Fridays during summer reading! Join her on Friday, August 7th at 10:30am to explore taste safe mud!   • How to Spot and Avoid Tech Support Scams (pdf)- Join DART (Deception, Awareness, Resilience Training) for a 60-90 minute session on recognizing and avoiding tech support scams.   • Family Fort Night (pdf)- Come build a fort with your family at the library! Join us on Tuesday, August 11th at 5:30pm for this program that is best for ages 2 and up. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!
  • Teen Art: Dinosaur Themed Bookmarks (pdf)- Teens ages 12-17 can join us on Thursday, August 13th at 6pm to make their own dinosaur themed bookmarks! Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!

  • Western New York Federal Credit Union Financial Literacy Story Time (pdf)- Join us for a financial literacy story time hosted by the WNY Federal Credit Union on Monday, August 17th at 10am!   • Senior Sunshine Senders: Card Making (pdf)- Help the Senior Sunshine Senders brighten someone's day! They create greeting cards at the West Seneca Public Library on the third Tuesday of each month, and donate them to Elder Care Facilities in West Seneca, Hamburg, and Cheektowaga (coming soon to Tonawanda!). A small card can make a BIG difference. They will be meeting at the West Seneca Public Library from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday, August 18th! Learn more on their Facebook page: Senior Sunshine Senders.
  • Jurassic Discovery Tour (pdf)- Drop in between 4pm and 7pm on Tuesday, August 18th for a fun Jurassic Discovery Tour scavenger hunt! This program is best for ages 3 years and up. Registration is not required for this event. Please call 716-674-2928 for more information!
  • Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting (pdf)- Teens can join us on Thursday, August 20th for a Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at 6pm. TAG members will help provide insight on how to better serve teens, help plan and implement programs, meet new people, and gain volunteer hours, experience, and leadership skills.   • West Seneca Public Library Book Club (pdf)-  Monday, August 31st at 6:30pm. Discussing Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan.   • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, September 8th between 11am and 5pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.

Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
