Finding Books

Catalog

Our catalog shows the materials available among all 37 Library locations and the Bookmobile. You can get materials sent directly to your nearest Library location from other locations in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library system when creating a hold: click the “Request Item” button for the material you want and then set the Pickup Library to your preferred location. If you are unable to leave your home and want physical books or other physical materials to be sent to your home, please visit our Library by Mail page.

We have an expansive collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines that can be accessed through the Libby mobile app or from a browser by visiting Overdrive.

Booklists

These booklists include: cultural books, difficult topics, read-along books, phonics books, and high/low (high interest and lower reading difficulty) books

Literacy

Early Literacy

Helping a child learn to read and love books starts from birth! We created a page to help lay down foundations for Early Literacy.

Encouraging Literacy

Our Library locations work hard to create programs, seasonal contests, and booklists to help motivate children of all ages.

Literacy Plan

In 2025 our librarians met with community members to discuss the public library’s role in literacy. The result is the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Literacy Plan (PDF).
