Libraries across Erie County create fun and imaginative programs for kids of all ages. Our Event + Program Calendar is searchable by location, age group and more. Library events celebrate holidays, explore nature, engage in STEM, and embrace magic!

Storytime and Early Literacy Programs

The Library offers free Storytime programs, designed to teach early literacy skills for different age groups.  To learn more about these programs please visit our Early Literacy page.

Summer Reading

Summer Reading is a national initiative to keep people reading over the summer. There are carnivals, contests, animal shows, magicians, and so much more - all for FREE!

Seasonal Reading Contests

Throughout the year many library locations hold reading contests, or have reading logs with prizes. This encourages reading in all ages. Contact your local library to learn more about their offerings.

Our Library System holds two big contests a year. To see if there is an active contest, and discover the rules, check out our Readsquared page.

1,000 books

Good reading practices can start as early as birth. To help encourage our community’s youngest readers, many Library locations have started a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
