Welcome to the Books for Kids 2026
30th Anniversary Community Campaign!
This year's drive runs from May 10 - 22, 2026.
Books for Kids collects new children’s books from the Western New York community and distributes them to needy children who would not otherwise have a chance to own a book of their own. Organizations that service children and community service organization lending libraries are eligible to receive books from Books for Kids.
How to donate books
Books can be dropped off at the following locations May 10 -22, 2026
- Wegmans - All locations in Erie and Niagara Counties between May 10-22.
- Buffalo & Erie County Public Library locations - All locations will accept books from May 1 - 31. See locations here.
- The Buffalo News - Larkin at Exchange Building, 726 Exchange St., Buffalo
- Tom's Restaurant - 3221 Sheridan Dr., Amherst
- Paula's Donuts - All locations
Wegmans and WGRZ 2 will host a special LIVE donation drive on Friday, May 15, 2026 from
5:30 a.m. – 12:00 pm at Wegmans, 5275 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville! Bring new children's books
to donate or purchase them at Wegmans.
Make a monetary donation:
In addition to book donations, we accept monetary support to purchase books for underserved children in our community. This includes braille, large-print, and other specialized books.
