Due to the recent developments regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the Interlibrary Loan Department is suspending all activity effective immediately.  In the interest of public health, we will not be requesting material from other libraries.  If you currently have Interlibrary Loan material, your due dates will be adjusted.  You can pick up any material that you have been previously notified is available for pickup.  

We will resume operations as soon as it is deemed appropriate.  Please feel free to call us or email with any questions you may have.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Books, articles, music CDs or DVDs not owned by the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System can be requested from library systems across New York State and beyond.  Interlibrary Loan manages these requests for you.

The following can be requested through ILL:

  • Books
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • Music on CD
  • DVDs 
  • Individual articles or book chapters
  • Microfilm

*Some restrictions apply  

You cannot request through ILL:

  • TV series
  • eBooks
  • Rare books
  • Reference books
  • Entire magazine/ journal issues

B&ECPL reserves the right to refuse to accept photocopy requests when it is believed that fulfillment of the order would result in a violation of copyright law.
