Special Events for Kids and Families

 Be a Kid Librarian!

Due to an amazing level of interest in this program, we’re pausing new Kid Librarian applications for the time being. If your child has already applied, don’t worry—they’ll still have the opportunity to create a display as planned. We’ll share an update once we’re ready to start up again. Thanks for your interest and support!

Do you have a child between the ages of 6 and 12 who loves books?  Then they can apply to become a Kid Librarian!  As a Kid Librarian your child will have the chance to create their very own book display- choosing a theme (or going totally random!) with as much or as little help as needed from Jill, one of our Grown-Up Librarians.

Applications are available in the children's area or at the information desk.  Once submitted, we'll reach out to schedule a time for your child to put their display together.  Stop by or call the library if you have any questions or need more information.  We can't wait to see the creative displays your kids come up with!

Local Author Kate Berberich: Writer on the Road to Happily Ever After

Wednesday, June 18 at 6:30 PM

Writer's block.  Two little words that strike terror into the heart of an author.  Regardless of what type of writing you do, everyone deals with it at one time or another.  So how do you get past the dreaded blank screen? Join me for a talk about working through writer's black.  I'll share my strategies for getting the project done.

We'll also chat about my newest release, "You Otter be in Pictures", and the Christmas romance I'm working on now.  And don't worry-I haven't forgotten about Dan and Lacey!  They've got more adventures to share.  No registration required, books will be available for purchase at this event.

Bad Art Night 9 : Foul Floral!

Thursday, June 26 at 6:00 PM

Roses are red, violets are blue, your art will be awful- but that's the point too!  Join us for another evening of glorious grotesque crafting, where tacky reigns supreme and good taste takes a vacation.

Can you make bad art out of "beautiful" silk flowers?  Of course you can- and we're giving you everything you need to make it happen: faux blooms, a mountain of craft supplies, and zero judgement.  Whether you're a hot glue gun pro, or just in it for the glitter, this is your night to shine (or at least sparkle, badly).

You'll leave with a flower-themed creation so wonderfully weird, your friends and family will never forget it (no matter how hard they try)

Ages 13-100 welcome, sense of humor required as well as registration, which can be made by phone by calling 716-873-2842 or stopping by the information desk.
