    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Policy (pdf)

    Individuals interested in volunteering at the B&ECPL must fill out a Volunteer Application (pdf) and a Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release form (pdf).  Volunteers under the age of 17 will be designated as Junior Volunteers and must have parental approval to volunteer. 

    Volunteers will be accepted based on the library’s project and programmatic needs matched with the individuals’ qualifications/interests as determined during the selection process.  The library may not accept every volunteer application.  A background check and/or reference checking may be required before any volunteer can begin an assignment.


    Community Room Reservation Requests

    Community Room Reservation Requests are made online via a link on the Town of West Seneca web site .  West Seneca Public Library events and certain Town of West Seneca meeting functions receive priority for scheduling purposes.

    Beyond these West Seneca Public Library or Town events, the Community Room is intended for use for free public events, workshops, educational classes and meetings.  Documentation naming the Town of West Seneca as additional insured during a meeting/event will be required.  

    A representative of the West Seneca Public Library or Town of West Seneca will respond to the online Community Room Reservation Request as soon as possible.

    The West Seneca Public Library features 5 study rooms available for use during regular library hours.  The rooms are intended for informal individual or small group use and are not to be used for commercial purposes.  Rooms may be booked for up to 2 hours per day.  For more information or to book a time slot, please stop by the library or call us at 674-2928.

      September 2025- SEPTEMBER REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, AUGUST 8TH

      • Handicraft Club (pdf)-  Join our handicraft club on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. We welcome all sorts of handicrafts including knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and needlework. No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
      • Lego Club (pdf)-  Saturday, September 6th and Saturday, September 20th at 11am. For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures.       • Kid's Button Making Craft (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join Miss Emily for a kid's button making craft on Monday, September 8th at 5pm.  Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, September 9th between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
      • Baby & Me Fall 2025 Twelve Week Session (pdf)- On Wednesday, September 10th, 17th, 24th; October 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th; November 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th; December 3rd at 9:30 or 10:30am, babies ages 0-24 months and their parent or guardian can join Miss Emily for a fun lap-sit story time session. Space will be limited and registration is required. Signing up for one session signs you up for all twelve sessions.       • Burchfield-Inspired Fidget Spinners (pdf)- Kids ages 4-10 can join the West Seneca Art Society in the library on Saturday, September 13th at 10:30am during Burchfest to make their own Burchfield-inspired fidget spinner!       • Another Look at Charles Burchfield with Joan and Jackie Albarella (pdf)- Join Joan and Jackie Albarella, lifelong neighbors of Charles Burchfield, on Saturday, September 13th at 11am for stories, memories and observations.       • Independent Preschool Story Time Fall 2025 Twelve Week Session (pdf)- Preschoolers ages 3-5 years can join Miss Emily on Tuesday nights at 6pm for a 12-week parent/guardian-free story time session. The dates are September 16th, 23rd, 30th; October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th; November 4th, 18th, 25th; December 2nd and 9th. Space will be limited and registration is required. Signing up for one session signs the child up for all twelve sessions.       • AARP Fraud and Scam Prevention Workshop (pdf)- Join AARP for an informative Fraud and Scam Prevention Workshop on Thursday, September 18th at 1pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Community Room. Register online at https://events.aarp.org/ManyFacesWSeneca to sign up and reserve your spot at this free public workshop. Seating is limited so reserve your seat today. You cannot register for this event through the library. 
      • Kid's Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, September 18th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Nicole Shields Author Talk and Book Signing (pdf)- On Monday, September 29th at 6:30pm, local author and mental health advocate Nicole Shields will discuss her new book "Beyond 25: A Life I Never Imagined", a personal story about mental health, resilience, and self-discovery. Nicole will lead a guided activity, and end with a Q&A and book signing. This program is geared towards young adults and adults. Space will be limited and registration is required.       Library of Things

      The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. These items must be checked out and returned at the West Seneca Public Library's circulation desk. For a list of the things available to checkout, please see the following link!       Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

      The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

      The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

      Next meeting: The next Friends meeting date is Monday, September 22nd at 6:30pm.

       

      West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

      The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
