    Sit-down, full-color, auto-focus video magnifier unit available for public use in the library (16 levels of magnification).

    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Policy (pdf)

    Individuals interested in volunteering at the B&ECPL must fill out a Volunteer Application (pdf) and a Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release form (pdf).  Volunteers under the age of 17 will be designated as Junior Volunteers and must have parental approval to volunteer. 

    Volunteers will be accepted based on the library’s project and programmatic needs matched with the individuals’ qualifications/interests as determined during the selection process.  The library may not accept every volunteer application.  A background check and/or reference checking may be required before any volunteer can begin an assignment.


    Community Room Reservation Requests

    Community Room Reservation Requests are made online via a link on the Town of West Seneca web site .  West Seneca Public Library events and certain Town of West Seneca meeting functions receive priority for scheduling purposes.

    Beyond these West Seneca Public Library or Town events, the Community Room is intended for use for free public events, workshops, educational classes and meetings.  Documentation naming the Town of West Seneca as additional insured during a meeting/event will be required.  

    A representative of the West Seneca Public Library or Town of West Seneca will respond to the online Community Room Reservation Request as soon as possible.

    The West Seneca Public Library features 5 study rooms available for use during regular library hours.  The rooms are intended for informal individual or small group use and are not to be used for commercial purposes.  Rooms may be booked for up to 2 hours per day.  For more information or to book a time slot, please stop by the library or call us at 674-2928.

      October 2024- OCTOBER REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH

      • Knitting & Crochet Circle (pdf)-  Mondays from 1:30-3:30 PM (in-person program).  Space will be limited.
      • Baby & Me (pdf)- You and your baby (ages 0-24 months) can join Miss Emily for Baby & Me! Wednesdays at 9:30am or 10:30am on September 25th and October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th! This program will take place in the library's Community Room. Space will be limited and registering signs you up for every session- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up. THESE SESSIONS ARE FULL
      • Toddler Time (pdf)- Toddlers (ages 2 to 3 1/2) can join us with their parent or guardian on Thursdays at 10am or 11am on September 26th and October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st for Toddler Time! Space will be limited.       • Independent Preschool Story Time- Preschoolers (ages 3 1/2 to 5) can join Miss Emily for a 10-week parent-free Preschool Story Time at 6pm, starting on Tuesday, October 1st and continuing through October 8th, 15th, 22nd; November 5th 12th, and 19th, and December 3rd, 10th, and 17th.       • Pumpkin Painting Contest (pdf)- Join us for our pumpkin painting contest on either Monday, October 7th or Tuesday, October 8th starting at 5pm both days! For kids ages 5-17. Space will be limited. Registration is required- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.
      • CSPAN Lab of UB- The Cognition, Speech Perception, and Auditory Neuroscience (CSPAN) Lab of UB will be coming to the West Seneca Public Library to conduct a brief research study! Participation involves completion of a behavioral task on the computer or iPad and takes about 20-30 minutes. Visitors ages 7 and up may be eligible. Parents must be briefly present in order for children to participate! The CSPAN Lab will be at the West Seneca Public Library on Tuesday, October 8th from 5pm-8pm; Saturday, October 19th from 1pm-4pm; Thursday, October 24th from 5:30pm-8pm; and Tuesday, October 29th from 5pm-8pm.
      • Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, October 10th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Lego Club (pdf)- Saturday, October 12th and October 26th from 11AM-12:30 PM.  For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or visit the library for more information.
      • Family Story Time (pdf)- Families with kids of all ages are welcome to join us at Family Story Time at 6:30pm on Thursday, October 17th, with local author Wendy Wasner! Space will be limited. Registration is required- please call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.
      • Spooky Movie Saturday (pdf)- On Saturday, October 19th, come watch Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie with us in our Community Room at 11:30am. We will then be watching Haunted Mansion (2003) at 1:45pm. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or visit the library to register or for more information.
      • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, October 22nd between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
      • Teen Board Game Night (pdf)-  Patrons ages 11-17 can join us on Thursday, October 24th at 5:30pm for a fun Teen Board Game Night. Space will be limited and registration is required! Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the West Seneca Public Library to register or for more information.
      • West Seneca Public Library Book Club (pdf)-  Monday, October 28th at 6:30 PM. Discussing The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki Event takes place in the Makerspace.  For more information please contact the West Seneca Public Library at 716-674-2928.  Space will be limited. No food or drink is permitted.
      • Halloween Family Story Time and Library Trick or Treat! (pdf)- Families with kids of all ages are welcome to join us at Family Story Time and Library Trick or Treating at 6pm on Tuesday, October 29th! Space will be limited.       • The Business of Music Workshop- Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and Three2Go Music Alliance present The Business of Music Workshop- Stay in tune with the business and take control of your music career! This free event will take place at the West Seneca Public Library Community Room on Thursday, November 7th at 6pm. No registration is required for this program. 
      • Dare to Repair Café (pdf)- Join us in the West Seneca Public Library Community Room on Saturday, November 9th from 11am-2pm for a Dare to Repair Café! This is a pop-up community event where individuals can bring broken items and have a team of volunteer fixers try to repair the items alongside them for free! Repair categories includes small appliances, lamps, electronics, bicycles, clothing and textiles. Please, no gas powered items or TVs. You must register to attend by visiting thetoollibrary.org/daretorepair. This event is sponsored by the Tool Library.
      • Baby & Me (pdf)- You and your baby (ages 0-24 months) can join Miss Emily for Baby & Me! Wednesdays at 9:30am or 10:30am on November 13th, 20th, and 27th and December 4th, 11th, and 18th!       • Teen STEM: Index Card Castles (pdf)- Teens ages 11-17 can join us in the Makerspace on Thursday, November 14th at 5pm for a fun STEM program where we will build castles out of index cards!       • West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Trade Show/Wellness Fair/Job Fair (pdf)- Saturday, November 16th from 10am-2pm in the West Seneca Community Center and Library. The trade show, wellness fair, and job fair will all feature a variety of vendors available to provide more information about their organizations and what they do. There will also be several speakers featured throughout the event. No registration is required for this event.
      • Narcan Training with the Erie County Department of Health (pdf)- Monday, November 18th from 6pm-7:30pm. You will learn Erie County-specific data on opioid overdoses, how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, the steps taken to administer Narcan (naloxone), and the legal protections for those who assist in an overdose situation. Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Charcuterie 101 (pdf)- Tuesday, November 19th from 11am-12:30pm. Join Liz Bauld as she shows you how to make a couple of beautiful charcuterie boards.  With the holidays coming up, this is a great opportunity to learn how to put together some delicious food using this fabulous presentation.  This class will be demonstration style, but after Liz shows you how to make easy "meat roses", you will have the opportunity to try your hand at the process.       • Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, November 21st from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+.       • Painting for Fun with the West Seneca Art Society (pdf)- Kids ages 5-11 can join the Art Society for a fun painting program! This program takes place on Saturday, November 23rd at 11am.       • West Seneca Public Library Book Club (pdf)- Monday, November 25th at 6:30 PM.       Library of Things

      The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. These items must be checked out and returned at the West Seneca Public Library's circulation desk. For a list of the things available to checkout, please see the following link!       Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

      The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

      The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

      Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Monday, November 4th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library Community Room.

       

      West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

      The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
