    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Policy

    Individuals interested in volunteering at the B&ECPL must fill out a Volunteer Application and a Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release form.  Volunteers under the age of 17 will be designated as Junior Volunteers and must have parental approval to volunteer. 

    Volunteers will be accepted based on the library’s project and programmatic needs matched with the individuals’ qualifications/interests as determined during the selection process.  The library may not accept every volunteer application.  A background check and/or reference checking may be required before any volunteer can begin an assignment.


    Community Room Reservation Requests

    Library Meeting Room Policy

    Community Room Reservation Requests are made online via a link on the Town of West Seneca web site.  West Seneca Public Library events and certain Town of West Seneca meeting functions receive priority for scheduling purposes.

    Beyond these West Seneca Public Library or Town events, the Community Room is intended for use for free public events, workshops, educational classes and meetings.  Documentation naming the Town of West Seneca as additional insured during a meeting/event will be required.  

    A representative of the West Seneca Public Library or Town of West Seneca will respond to the online Community Room Reservation Request as soon as possible.

    Study Room Policy

    The West Seneca Public Library features 5 study rooms available for use during regular library hours.  The rooms are intended for informal individual or small group use and are not to be used for commercial purposes.  Rooms may be booked for up to 2 hours per day.  For more information or to book a time slot, please stop by the library or call us at 674-2928.

    The West Seneca Public Library is a member of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System.

    • Knitting & Crochet Circle-  Mondays from 1:30-3:00 PM (in-person program).  Space will be limited.  Social distancing will be practiced.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged.

    • Dungeons & Dragons Club-  Saturdays from 1:30 PM-3:30 PM.  For ages 12 and up.  Registration is required.  Participants must bring their own set of dice.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged.  Volunteer DMs are welcome as player slots are limited by DM availability.  Please call the library at 716-674-2928 for more information.

    • Preschool Story Time- Tuesdays, October 11-December 13 at 6pm. Preschool Story Time for 3-5 year olds with Miss Emily! If you sign up for one date, you are signing up for every date! Space will be limited and registration is required. Masks are not required, but are encouraged. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register or for more information!

    • Lego Club- Saturday, November 5th and 19th, from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM.  For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures.     • Be A Library Kid!- For kids ages 6-12. Mondays, October 17 and 24, November 7 and 14, and December 5 and 12 at 5pm.  If you sign up for one date, you are signing up for all dates. There will be crafting, sharing, and book talking! Space will be limited and registration is required!     • Author Talk with MaryJean Zajac- Monday, November 14th at 6:30 PM in the West Seneca Public Library Community Room! MaryJean will be discussing her humorous Cetta Borski mystery book series, and answering questions. Space will be limited and registration is required.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged. Please call 674-2928 or visit the library for more information.

    • Book a Technology Trainer- Tuesday, November 15th between 10 and 3pm there will be five 45-minute slots available. Need computer assistance? We can help! These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or iPhone. Sessions are on the hour, and pre-registration is required by calling 674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk. Masks are not required, but are encouraged.

    • Fuse Beads- Thursday, November 17th, from 5:00-6:30 PM. For ages 6 and up. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads. Space will be limited and registration is required.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged. Please call 674-2928 or visit the library for more information.

    • Thanksgiving Tales!- Thursday, November 17th, from 6:30-7:30 PM. For all ages. Come listen to fun Thanksgiving Tales read by Miss Emily! Space will be limited and registration is required.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged. Please call 674-2928 or visit the library for more information.

    • Stars and Snowflakes- Monday, November 21st, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Join us for a fun Teen Art Night! For ages 12 and up.     • Dogs Love Stories- Wednesday, November 23rd, Tuesday, December 27th and Thursday, December 29th, with eight 15-minute slots available between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM each day.     • Explore & More presents Raise the Roof: Building Dreams with Architecture- Friday, November 25th at 10:00 AM.  Let's raise the roof!  Students will learn about the process of engineering and architecture in this program based on the history and science of Western New York architecture.  Students will create their own tent sites as they design, build and construct!   For ages 6-12.  Space will be limited and registration will be required.  Masks are not required, but are encouraged. Please call 674-2928 or visit the library for more information.

    Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

    The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

    The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here.

    The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found HERE.  

    A special thank you to the West Seneca Central School District and the West Seneca West alumni for their generous efforts in helping to assemble this collection of yearbooks!
