    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Policy (pdf)

    Individuals interested in volunteering at the B&ECPL must fill out a Volunteer Application (pdf) and a Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release form (pdf).  Volunteers under the age of 17 will be designated as Junior Volunteers and must have parental approval to volunteer. 

    Volunteers will be accepted based on the library’s project and programmatic needs matched with the individuals’ qualifications/interests as determined during the selection process.  The library may not accept every volunteer application.  A background check and/or reference checking may be required before any volunteer can begin an assignment.


    Community Room Reservation Requests

    Community Room Reservation Requests are made online via a link on the Town of West Seneca web site .  West Seneca Public Library events and certain Town of West Seneca meeting functions receive priority for scheduling purposes.

    Beyond these West Seneca Public Library or Town events, the Community Room is intended for use for free public events, workshops, educational classes and meetings.  Documentation naming the Town of West Seneca as additional insured during a meeting/event will be required.  

    A representative of the West Seneca Public Library or Town of West Seneca will respond to the online Community Room Reservation Request as soon as possible.

    The West Seneca Public Library features 5 study rooms available for use during regular library hours.  The rooms are intended for informal individual or small group use and are not to be used for commercial purposes.  Rooms may be booked for up to 2 hours per day.  For more information or to book a time slot, please stop by the library or call us at 674-2928.

      Our 2025 Bookmark Design Contest for ages 3-17 started on Monday, June 30th! Print out a copy of the entry form here and turn it in to the desk at the West Seneca Public Library by Thursday, July 31st to be entered to win! Copies of the entry form can also be picked up at the West Seneca Public Library.

       

      July 2025- JULY REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH

      • Handicraft Club (pdf)-  Join our handicraft club on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. We welcome all sorts of handicrafts including knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and needlework. No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
      • Bookmark Design Contest (pdf)- Starting Monday, June 30th, kids ages 3-17 can grab a Bookmark Design Contest entry form from the West Seneca Public Library and have fun creating their own bookmark! Turn your bookmark in to the information desk and you might win within your age group! Age groups are 3-6, 7-10, 11-13, and 14-17. Winners will receive a prize along with a large version of their bookmark. Entry for this contest runs through Thursday, July 31st. Limit- one entry form per participant.  Each entry form provides two spaces to design two bookmark contest entries! You can find the entry form here.
      • Family Story Time (pdf)- We will be hosting three all ages family story times at 10am on Wednesday, July 2nd; Monday, July 7th; and Monday, July 21st.       • Lego Club (pdf)-  Monday, July 7th at 3pm and Saturday, July 26th at 11am. For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures.       • Life-Size Candyland (pdf)- You and your family can join us for a fun life-size Candy Land game on Tuesday, July 8th, with slots available between 1:30pm and 7pm! Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Baby & Me (pdf)- On Wednesday, July 9th and 30th at 9:30 or 10:30am, babies ages 0-24 months and their parent or guardian can join Miss Emily for a fun lap-sit story time session.       • Artist Series: Alma Woodsey Thomas (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join us for a new artist series where they will learn about different artists and create artwork inspired by them. Our first session, which will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 3pm, will focus on Alma Woodsey Thomas. Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Toddler Art: Symmetry Painting (pdf)- Kids ages 2-4 can join Miss Emily on Friday, July 11th at 11am for a fun symmetry painting program! Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Stuffed Animal Sleepover (pdf)- From Friday, July 11th to Saturday, July 12th we will be hosting a stuffed animal sleepover for the stuffies of kids ages 3-8. This fun program involves dropping off your stuffy at 3:30pm on Friday for a night of fun at the library, then picking them up the next morning at 10:30am to have breakfast with everyone, and see what they got up to!       • Family Story Time with the Western New York Federal Credit Union (pdf)- The Western New York Federal Credit Union will be sponsoring a fun family story time at the West Seneca Public Library on Monday, July 14th at 10am!       • Painting for Fun for Teens with the West Seneca Art Society (pdf)- Teens ages 12-17 can join the West Seneca Art Society on Tuesday, July 15th at 5:30pm for a Painting for Fun program! All supplies will be provided by the art teacher. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!
      • Music with Miss Jessica: U 2 Can Uke Part 1 (pdf)- Kids ages 8-12 can join Miss Jessica for a fun ukulele lesson on Wednesday, July 16th at 11am. Part 2 of this program will be held on Friday, July 25th at 3pm. You do not need to attend both sessions! Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Toddler Time (pdf)- Toddlers (ages 2 to 4) can join us with their parent or guardian on Thursday, July 17th at 11am. Space will be limited and registration is required. Call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.
      • Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, July 17th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Friday, July 18th between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
      • Teen Art: Pendulum Painting (pdf)- Teens ages 12-17 can join us for a cool pendulum painting program on Saturday, July 19th at 11:30am. Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Storybook Cook: Mocktails and Appetizers with Liz Bauld (pdf)- Join Storybook Cook Liz Bauld on Saturday, July 19th at 2pm as she demonstrates a few of her favorite mocktails and appetizers.       • 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's presented by The Alzheimer's Association (pdf)- On Monday, July 21st at 6:00pm the Alzheimer's Association will present information on 10 warning signs of Alzheimer's. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 800-272-3900 to register. You cannot register for this program by contacting the West Seneca Public Library.
      • Mark Carra: Bats- The Whole Truth (pdf)- Mark Carra will be joining us at the library on Tuesday, July 22nd at 5pm for a fun and informative evening of learning about bats! Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Music with Miss Jessica: Parachutes, Scarves, and Stretchy Bands (pdf)- Kids ages 4-8 can join Miss Jessica on Wednesday, July 23rd for a fun music-oriented program! Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
      • Artist Series: Jackson Pollock (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join us for a new artist series where they will learn about different artists and create artwork inspired by them. Our second session, which will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 3pm, will focus on Jackson Pollock. Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting (pdf)- Teens can join us on Thursday, July 24th for our fourth Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at 6pm. TAG members will help provide insight on how to better serve teens, help plan and implement programs, meet new people, and gain volunteer hours, experience, and leadership skills.       • Adult Fuse Beads (pdf)- We will be holding our first Adult Fuse Beads program at 5pm on Tuesday, July 29th. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads!       • Bluey Party (pdf)- On Thursday, July 31st we will be hosting another Bluey Party! With crafts, games, music and more, you'll have a blast!       The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. These items must be checked out and returned at the West Seneca Public Library's circulation desk. For a list of the things available to checkout, please see the following link!       Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

      The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

      The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

      Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Monday, May 19th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Community Room.

       

      West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

      The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.

      A special thank you to the West Seneca Central School District and the West Seneca West Alumni for their generous efforts in helping to assemble this collection of yearbooks!
