We offer 13 Public Access Computers with Microsoft Office Applications, Internet Access and a Scanner. Printing is available; black & white copies are $.10 and color copies are $.25.
Local Akron/Newstead Newspapers dating back to 1878 are now searchable from every public computer in the library.
Copy Machine: $.15 for 8 1/2 x11 and $.30 for 8 1/2 x 14
Fax Machine for outgoing faxes : The first page is $1.75 and each additional page is $1.00. A Credit/Debit Card may be used or a Fax card can be purchased.

We have a very supportive Friends of the Library group that sponsors a used book sale in the Spring and Fall. There are three ways to become involved as a Friend: (1) as a member, (2) as a donor, and/or (3) as a volunteer. You will now find a bright yellow and green Abitibi Paper Retriever Recycling Bin in the rear parking lot of the Newstead Public Library. Please drop off your newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, old mail, shredded papers, office papers, school papers and envelopes in the recycling bin. Items not accepted are cardboard, cereal/soda cartons, food wrap/ containers, tissue products, phone books, plastic or glass. Did you know that every year Americans use more than 67 million tons of paper or 580 pounds per person? That is a lot of paper! Please bring your recyclable paper to the yellow and green bin.
Meeting Room: All meetings must be open to the public. No fees can be charged. Room capacity is 50. Application may be downloaded.

Adults can join us every Monday from 1:00 until 4:00 pm to play some Mah Jong! New players are always welcome. Takes place in the Cultural Center on the bottom floor of the library.

Tuesdays from 10:30am - 11:30am. T'ai Chi Chih movements are practiced softly with no impact. No particular level of fitness, coordination or special clothing or equipment is required.

11:30 am on the first Friday of the month, * May 1st. For ages 3-5 years old. Send your child on a peaceful journey and join Donna Baia from Kidding Around Yoga for these fun filled yoga classes for your little ones. Build fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination with brightly colored balls and simple toys. For children 15 months to 3 years old. Meets from 11:30-12:15 on the second and fourth Friday of every month. Also, there will be a class on April 17th

Every Friday that school is in session from 10 -5 a Dept. of Social Services Intern will be at the library to assist with applying for help with food, help with heating bills, SNAP, WIC, finding legal assistance, home weatherization, finding health clinics and other social services programs.
Peace Love & Yarn - Check back to see when this will restart
Meets on the first Saturday of every month at 2:00 pm for one hour. Do you knit or crochet? Join us at our monthly meetings to craft for the community. Current Projects: We're making children's hats, mittens and scarves to distribute to children in shelters and elsewhere at the Mexican Border. We are coordinating our efforts with our friends at Border Angels & the Blanket Project for distribution of items.

The third Friday of every month @ 11:00 am. May 15) Do you homeschool? Would you like to get together with other homeschooling families? Join us for Homeschool hour for hands on Science fun and to explore our STEM activities. Program is open to all ages.

Indulge- Delectable Botanical Luxuries -Check back to see if program can be rescheduled. Indulge is a fun program that reminds everyone about the things we enjoy in our day to day lives that come from plants. Learn about popular drinks, interesting/odd foods, chocolate and then delve into plants as perfume and aromatherapy/medicine. Call to attend.

Dolly Partons Imagination Library comes to Akron. Give a preschool child the gift of reading. This is a free gift to your child.
